In a telephone interview with ABC News in Washington, President Donald Trump said he believed the U.S. would reach an agreement with Iran next week to extend the ceasefire between the two countries and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
"There was a little hiccup today, but I resolved it very quickly, as you may have noticed," Trump said, referring to Iran's anger over Israel's attacks on Lebanon.

"I spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hezbollah, asking them to stop fighting. And both sides have ceased fire," President Trump continued.
The American leader added that negotiations with Iran are continuing at a "rapid pace".
President Trump said he had not agreed to a deal with Iran because a few more terms needed to be reached. According to the American leader, a peace agreement with Iran could be even better than a military victory.
"So this isn't easy for them (Iran). In fact, from our perspective, it's not easy either. But we're getting what we need," Trump continued.
Earlier, Iran stated that contacts with the US had been disrupted due to Israeli aggression in Lebanon. Iran has not commented or confirmed whether talks have resumed.
