The HBI Hue Company's Trade Union organized an activity to care for and present gifts to female employees on Vietnamese Women's Day, October 20th.

From practical needs

Returning to work after maternity leave, Ms. Nguyen Thi My Trang, from the production department, was able to continue breastfeeding thanks to practical support from Hanesbrands Vietnam Co., Ltd. (HBI) Hue. "Having a private room and supportive conditions makes me feel more secure at work, while still ensuring a sufficient milk supply for my child," Ms. Trang shared.

At HBI Hue Company, female workers are provided with separate, clean, and private rooms for expressing and storing breast milk; fully equipped with refrigerators and supporting tools. Breastfeeding time is flexibly arranged within the work shift, counted as working hours, and does not affect income.

Providing a room for expressing and storing breast milk is not just a convenience, but directly addresses the difficulties faced by postpartum women – the pressure of balancing work and caring for young children. Once this need is met, employees can focus on their work and reduce both physical and mental stress.

According to Ms. Le Hoang Kim Ngan, Chairwoman of the Trade Union at HBI Hue Company, the company's policies are developed based on listening to the actual needs of the workers. "The trade union collaborates with the company to conduct surveys and implement appropriate models. When policies meet the needs of the workers, they will accept them and remain committed for the long term," Ms. Ngan stated.

Not only focusing on female workers, businesses also prioritize healthcare tailored to specific working conditions. In production environments, where workers are easily fatigued by high temperatures, supplementing vitamins right in the factory is a simple yet effective solution.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, a sewing worker at Factory 2 of HBI Hue Company, shared: "Working in the hot factory is tiring at times, but having access to vitamin-rich drinks right there makes it much easier."

During the cold season, ginger tea is provided to keep warm and prevent illness. Health screening programs, treatment support, maternity care, 24/7 accident insurance, etc., are also regularly maintained. These seemingly small forms of support, when implemented at the right time and to meet the right needs, significantly contribute to helping workers maintain their mental well-being, health, and productivity.

To the necessary skills

Beyond caring for their well-being and health, an increasingly important task is equipping workers with the skills to proactively cope with the risks of modern life.

Recently, the Trade Union and HBI Hue Company participated in an online fraud prevention and control awareness session jointly organized by the Phu Bai Ward Police. Real-life scenarios of impersonation and scams via social media and phone calls were presented, helping workers easily identify and avoid them. Messages such as "Browse the internet wisely - avoid countless scams," and "Stay alert online - stay away from fraudsters" are gradually becoming essential skills for workers in the digital age.

In addition, activities such as employee support funds and post-disaster relief programs continue to be maintained, creating a "safety net" within the enterprise.

Mr. Nguyen Quy, Vice Chairman of the City's Labor Union, believes that combining welfare care with skills training is a suitable approach in the current period. "Models of welfare programs linked to practical needs and aimed at improving workers' awareness and skills not only help stabilize their lives but also contribute to building harmonious and sustainable labor relations," Mr. Nguyen Quy stated.

From the above experience, it can be seen that effective employee welfare lies not in the quantity of activities, but in addressing their needs and creating real value. When employees receive timely support, they not only feel secure in their work but also develop a natural attachment to the company. This is a crucial foundation for building a stable workforce.
