The fifth round of Champions League qualifying matches played early this morning (November 27th) left many notable highlights: Arsenal perfectly defeated Bayern to take the lead, Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid scored four goals, including three in seven minutes. PSG thrashed Tottenham 5-3, and most shockingly, PSV won at Liverpool's Anfield stadium.
With Round 5 concluded, the six representatives from the English Premier League are in contrasting situations. Arsenal and Chelsea are in excellent form, while the big clubs Man City and Liverpool suffered defeats at home.
Arsenal defeated Bayern Munich 3-1 to secure their fifth win in the Champions League group stage. This perfect performance propelled them to the top of the group after the fifth matchday of the UEFA Champions League. With this form, the English team is certain to go far in this season's competition.

While Arsenal were leading the table, Liverpool lost 1-4 to the supposedly weaker PSV.
With this impressive victory, PSV secured their second win in 15 away matches against the English team, inflicting Liverpool's ninth defeat in their last 12 games across all competitions. This was The Reds' third consecutive three-goal defeat.
Liverpool are currently ranked 13th, behind both Newcastle (11th) and Man City (9th). This is a stark contrast to last season when Liverpool won consistently in the qualifying rounds.
Tottenham, an English team, dropped to 16th place, below PSV (15th). Their defeat in France has left Tottenham's chances of progressing very uncertain, as teams close behind them such as Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Napoli, and Marseille have all won, leaving them only one point behind the English team.
Of course, things are just beginning, but the course of the upcoming rounds will reverse the situation if the teams from the English Premier League win. The gap between the top eight teams and the chasing pack is not too wide.

Defending champions PSG continued to demonstrate their superior strength. Vitinha's hat-trick secured a dramatic victory for PSG against Tottenham. Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani had twice put the North London side ahead, but two stunning goals from Vitinha leveled the score and secured a 5-3 win.

The highlight of matchday 5 had to be Mbappé. He scored the second-fastest hat-trick in the league's history, securing a narrow victory for Los Blancos at Piraeus.
The home side took the lead thanks to a calm finish from Chiquinho in the eighth minute after a well-executed combination, before Mbappé responded with three goals in just 6 minutes and 42 seconds, right before the end of the first half. Real's 4-3 away win against Olympiacos lifted them to fifth place in the league table.
