Overcoming life's events
“When I was 12 years old, while passing by an unfinished construction site, a collapsed wall crushed me. When I woke up in the hospital, I saw bandages wrapped around my body, and my right arm was gone. Not only was I in physical pain, I also felt inferior when I went from being normal to being disabled,” Duc recalled.
After losing his right arm, Duc's daily life encountered many obstacles. Despite the difficulties, Duc was determined to strive to improve, trying to practice writing with his left hand to return to school.
“At first, I was in so much pain. I wore long-sleeved shirts everywhere to hide my flaws and didn’t dare to communicate with anyone. Then, I read stories about the resilience of famous disabled people. I used that as motivation to strive forward,” Duc said.
“Participating in voluntary blood donation opened a turning point in my life. From a person who was self-conscious because of his disability, I now confidently face everything in life,” Duc expressed.
Phuc Duc received a certificate of merit at the program to honor 100 outstanding voluntary blood donors nationwide in 2023.
Phuc Duc believes that every time he does something good, he feels happy. The motivation for Duc to donate blood is that each drop of blood donated will save the life and health of the patient.
“I usually donate blood 3-4 times a year. I will participate in this meaningful activity until I no longer have the health and conditions,” Duc shared.
