Phan Thi Ha lives in village 2, Huong Binh commune, Ha Tinh province. Her parents are farmers and live in difficult circumstances. In addition to a few fields, her father works in the forest all year round to earn a living, her mother works as a maid, collecting every penny to support Ha and her siblings' education.
Knowing her family's difficult circumstances, Ha determined from a young age that only education could change her fate. She was determined to study hard with the dream of becoming a teacher so that she could return to teach the children in her hometown.
Ha said that since 6th grade, she has been studying at the provincial boarding school for ethnic minorities. The road from home to school is remote and far away, so she had to be away from her parents and learn to be independent.
“At the age of 12, I left home to study at school. Without my parents by my side to take care of me, I often felt very sad. Knowing that my family’s circumstances were difficult and my parents had to work hard, I had to take care of myself and try to study hard,” Ha confided.
During her years of middle school and high school at Ha Tinh Ethnic Boarding School, Ha was considered by many teachers to be a studious and hard-working student. Compared to many other students, Ha stood out for her intelligence and agility.
Ha overcame difficulties in studying, so throughout many years of study, she was an excellent student, an active and responsible secretary of the Youth Union for 3 years of high school, and a pioneer in movement activities.

In addition, Ha was awarded the Vallet scholarship (a scholarship sponsored by the Science and Education Organization Rencontres du Vietnam and Professor Odon Vallet, for Vietnamese students and postgraduates with excellent academic and research achievements); won third prize in the "beauty of ethnic minority female students" contest and was honored as the "3 good students" of the school.
Sharing with VietnamNet, Phan Thi Ha said that after the graduation exam results were out, her mother was busy working for hire, and her father was in the forest carrying acacia wood. She told her parents the good news over the phone with a mixture of joy and tears.
Achieving 27.5 points in block C00, I was very happy but not too surprised. That result was a long effort of mine during 7 years of studying at Ha Tinh ethnic boarding school. That score is a gift that Ha is grateful to her parents and teachers who have raised and guided her over the past time.
Sharing about her future plans, Ha said she will apply to Da Nang University of Education to fulfill her long-standing dream of being a pedagogical student and becoming a history teacher in the future.

Mr. Phan Van Hoi, Ha's father, shared that his family is a farmer, very hard-working, unable to afford to send their children to extra classes, only able to entrust their children to teachers at boarding school. In addition to the time spent at school, whenever Ha comes home, he helps his parents with farm work and takes care of his younger siblings.
"Thank you for your constant efforts," Mr. Hoi shared.
Mr. Hoi added that Ha's upcoming university education will be very expensive, so he and his wife try to find jobs to earn money to raise their child.
Mr. Dang Thai Man, Principal of Ha Tinh Ethnic Boarding Secondary and High School, said: Despite difficult circumstances, Ha has overcome difficulties to study well, is a diligent and exemplary student, and is always at the forefront of all activities of the class and the school.
"With proud achievements and results, you are a model student, a role model, an inspiration for the dreams of ethnic minority students," Mr. Man added.
