Following the 2025-2026 National Excellent Student Selection Exam, Bui Anh Tu, a 11th-grade student, surpassed many 12th-grade students nationwide to win first prize in Physics. At the end of May 2026, Bui Anh Tu was further selected to join the team competing in the 2026 Asian Physics Olympiad in Busan (South Korea). This is a great opportunity, placing higher demands on his expertise, allowing him to prove himself on his academic and training path.
Right from the 10th grade, Tú won a Silver Medal at the regional high school student competition for specialized schools in the Northern Coastal and Delta regions, and a Gold Medal at the Hung Vuong Summer Camp student competition for specialized high schools in the Northern midland and mountainous regions.
Ms. Pham Thi Trang Nhung, the teacher in charge of the Physics gifted student team at Bien Hoa Specialized High School, said that in her many years of leading Physics teams, Bui Anh Tu is the most exceptional case. From the 10th grade and early 11th grade, although Tu had good results in exams, he hadn't fully developed his potential. However, the teachers were surprised when Tu made a "leap forward," proving himself and surpassing initial predictions. After joining the Vietnamese national team, Tu once again demonstrated his abilities, consistently achieving high scores in the selection exams for the Vietnamese Physics team to participate in the 2026 Asian Physics Olympiad in Busan (South Korea). From the moment he joined the team, Tu was assessed as a student with a strong knowledge base, clear thinking, and a quick learning ability. His rapid progress during the training process surprised many teachers. Tu has excellent thinking skills. Your work demonstrates a highly flexible application of knowledge, even including content at the university level. You are particularly strong in areas requiring in-depth knowledge and high-level analytical thinking.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Hang, Principal of Bien Hoa Specialized High School, shared that Bui Anh Tu is a student who has spent seven years studying, training, and developing at the school. He has a strong aptitude for Physics, along with perseverance, diligence, and a desire to conquer the heights of knowledge. He is a role model for the youth and students of the school to emulate.
Overcome adversity, pursue your passion.
At Bien Hoa Specialized High School, everyone knows about Tu's special circumstances. Having lived away from her parents since childhood, she was cared for and raised by her maternal grandparents. Through her perseverance, determination, and persistent efforts throughout her studies, she has achieved great success.
When I was a middle school student, I initially planned to specialize in Mathematics, but after studying and assessing my own abilities, I realized that Physics offered more interest and sparked a clearer passion for the subject. After passing the entrance exam to the 10th grade specialized Physics class, I further demonstrated my outstanding aptitude for this subject, from the ability to analyze phenomena to logical and rigorous reasoning. "I think the most important factor is passion. With passion, you can explore and conquer the boundless knowledge of Physics. I'm fortunate to have had the teachers support my dream of conquering knowledge. They guided me on methods to train my thinking and master the necessary skills to excel in this subject," shared Bui Anh Tu.
Outside of class time, Tú dedicates most of her time to self-study. In addition, she participates in online classes and proactively seeks out foreign textbooks to broaden her knowledge. Accessing diverse resources helps her develop independent thinking, freeing her from the confines of textbooks.
Dao Xuan Bach, a student in the specialized Physics class at Bien Hoa Specialized High School, described Tu as very sociable and actively participating in self-study sessions. He always proactively created a schedule and planned his study activities, discussing each problem and assignment beforehand.
Besides being an excellent student, Tú is also active in extracurricular activities and plans to participate in many social and charitable activities. She has contributed to several scientific research projects at the school.
Currently, Bui Anh Tu has traveled with the Vietnamese Physics Olympiad team to Busan (South Korea) to participate in the 2026 Asian Physics Olympiad at the end of May 2026. Speaking about his goals, Bui Anh Tu said he will try his best to achieve a high score in the continental competition and qualify for the International Physics Olympiad. “I don’t put too much pressure on the results, but my goal is still to do my best and achieve the best possible outcome,” Tu shared.
Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, Ha Lan Anh, stated that Bui Anh Tu's achievement once again demonstrates the important role of early talent identification, proper guidance, and persistent nurturing in the training of gifted students. This also serves as proof of the persistent efforts of students who overcome adversity to pursue and conquer knowledge, affirming the tradition of studiousness in Ninh Binh province.
The achievement is not only a source of pride for Bui Anh Tu himself, but also a shared glory for his teachers, friends, and Bien Hoa Specialized High School, a place that always nurtures dreams and keeps the flame of learning burning in Ninh Binh, a land of learning.
