Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Van Vy - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Ms. Tran Thi Lan - Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs; Mr. Truong Van Hoan - Secretary of Chau Thanh District Party Committee.
Responding to the Government 's program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, together with the whole country, in recent times, Chau Thanh district has actively mobilized many resources to effectively carry out the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for policy families, poor households, and near-poor households in the district. By April 30, 2025, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, Chau Thanh district had completed the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for policy families and poor households.
Through the 2025 review, the whole district still has 240 households living in temporary, dilapidated, unsafe houses that do not meet basic living needs; of which, 154 households need to rebuild and 86 households need to repair.
Regarding the construction of gratitude houses for families with preferential policies, after reviewing, the district has built 19 new houses for families with preferential policies with a total amount of more than 3 billion VND. Of which, 10 households have land; 2 households have land donated by relatives and 7 households have registered to live in resettlement areas in Dong Khoi, Thanh Long and Tri Binh. The district also repaired 36 gratitude houses with a total amount of nearly 2.3 billion VND.
In addition, through the review of poor households in 2024, there were 30 new houses and 2 houses repaired outside the Project. Chau Thanh District mobilized social funding from sponsors to build and repair 32 solidarity houses to complete the overall progress before April 30, 2025, with an implementation cost of more than 2.7 billion VND.
The total cost of the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the district over two implementation phases is over 19 billion VND. In addition to receiving new houses, the households were also presented with 156 televisions by the Provincial, District and Commune Fund for the Poor Mobilization Committees, each worth nearly 3 million VND.
At the conference, Chau Thanh district awarded 17 collectives and 16 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the district.
