Military official Mohammad Hasan told reporters at the scene that no one was killed or injured in the incident, adding that the fire originated in a part of the facility used to store expired ammunition.

Hasan said at a press conference near the scene in Bogor, a suburb of Jakarta: “We have checked the surrounding areas, there are no fatalities.” He added: “The ammunition was expired… There may have been some friction that caused the fire.”
Military official Kristomei Sianturi said authorities began extinguishing the fire hours after it started, at 6:30 p.m. local time on Saturday. According to local media, firefighters and medical personnel were initially unable to access the scene.

The video, broadcast by KompasTV, shows orange flames and billowing smoke rising into the night sky, while loud explosions can be heard from several kilometers away.
Local resident Arga Nanda told KompasTV that he heard a loud bang that shook doors and windows. He said people ran out into the street thinking it was an earthquake.
Kristomei said authorities were evacuating residents from nearby areas. He also warned people not to touch any objects that might have been scattered from the explosion site.
