On the morning of June 1st, the People's Committee of Ngoc Son ward, Thanh Hoa province, announced that a fishing boat fire had occurred in the area. The incident did not cause any casualties but resulted in property damage to the fishermen.
Accordingly, at approximately 1:00 AM on June 1st, the fishing vessel NA-90972-TS, 14.85 meters long and with a 136 HP engine, used for trawling and owned by Mr. Tran Van Sau (residing in Dien Chau commune, Nghe An province), suddenly caught fire while anchored at Lach Ghep wharf (Ngoc Son ward, Thanh Hoa province). Prior to this, the vessel had docked at Lach Ghep wharf at 5:00 PM on May 22nd. The captain was Mr. Le Cong Tuan, residing in Nam Thanh residential area, Ngoc Son ward.
Immediately after receiving the report, the Lach Ghep Border Guard Station (Hai Hoa Border Guard Post) mobilized forces and equipment to the scene. However, because the area where the ship was anchored was a swamp, far from the port, bringing specialized firefighting equipment to the scene proved difficult. In this situation, the Border Guard quickly coordinated with the Ngoc Son Ward People's Committee and other relevant agencies to mobilize one speedboat and five officers and soldiers to participate in firefighting; at the same time, they called on fishing boats from nearby fishermen to assist. Dozens of people used water hoses, buckets, containers, basins, and other available items to extinguish the fire.
After more than 3 hours of efforts to control the fire, by approximately 4:00 AM the same day, the flames were completely extinguished. The fire caused no casualties, but the entire cabin, engine, and fishing gear on board were destroyed.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are currently being investigated by the authorities.
