Dare to think, dare to act.
In Van Hoa commune, if you ask about "Ms. Nam, the dairy farmer," everyone knows her. That's because Ms. Nam was the first person in Van Hoa commune to initiate the dairy farming model, and currently, she has the largest dairy herd in the commune with a total of 62 cows.
Ms. Nam's dairy farm covers more than 1,200 square meters, with 3 rows of barns. The floors are paved with clean cement, and the surroundings are spacious and airy. Hygienic conditions are ensured to prevent any negative impact on the health of the herd of cows.

Ms. Nam said that dairy farming is even busier than taking care of newborns. Every day, she and her husband wake up at dawn to get to work. If they don't take good care of the cows, they will become thin, sick, and the milk production will decrease, leading to the collapse of the herd and bankruptcy.
To date, Ms. Nam has been involved in dairy farming for over 20 years. Her herd of 62 cows is the largest in the commune, bringing in billions of dong in profit each year. But to achieve this success, Ms. Nam has had to overcome many hardships.
To secure the capital for dairy farming, the couple had to mortgage their land title to borrow 20 million dong from the bank. “In 2003, 20 million dong was a considerable sum for a farmer. Seeing me borrow so much, my father kept telling me I was being too reckless, because back then no one dared to invest that much,” Ms. Nam shared.
No worries about sales.
Determined to become wealthy through dairy farming, Ms. Nam's family actively applies science, technology, and techniques to improve productivity and quality.
To date, her family has invested over 3 billion VND in a sprinkler system to cool down their cattle and other automated equipment. In addition, they have built a waste treatment system to ensure biosafety in livestock farming.
Thanks to her mastery of care techniques, Ms. Nam's dairy herd thrives, yielding high milk production and good quality milk. To date, her family's farm achieves an average yield of 1 ton of milk per day.
The good news is that Ms. Nam doesn't have to worry about finding buyers because a large dairy company has set up a collection point. Thanks to its high quality, Ms. Nam's family's milk is also usually sold at a higher price.
Currently, Ms. Ta Thi Nam's dairy farming model generates a total revenue of 7.5 billion VND per year. With the profits from her dairy herd, Ms. Nam invests in expanding her farm and purchasing more land. To ensure a steady supply of feed for her cows, she has also invested in planting 3.5 hectares of grass.
Not only has Ms. Nam's dairy farming model enriched her family, but it has also created jobs for 17 seasonal workers. Each worker earns between 7 and 10 million VND per month.
Speaking about Ms. Ta Thi Nam, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Van Hoa commune, Le Trung Kien said that currently there are more than 1,000 farming households raising dairy cows in the commune, with a total herd of nearly 5,000 cows. Among them, Ms. Ta Thi Nam's dairy farming model is the largest in the commune.
“Ms. Ta Thi Nam has consistently been recognized as an outstanding farmer in production and business at the Hanoi City level for many years, serving as a shining example of striving for excellence for local farmers to learn from…” - Mr. Le Trung Kien further shared.
“The application of high technology in dairy farming has helped improve the quality and quantity of milk. Furthermore, Ms. Nam has played a pioneering role in linking with businesses that consume cow's milk. This is a decisive factor in ensuring stable sales of farmers' products at good prices, guaranteeing income for farmers…” - Chairman of the Ba Vi District Farmers' Association, Nguyen Van Truong .
