During its time under the Volkswagen Group, Bugatti only launched two models: the Veyron in 2005 and the Chiron in 2016. In 2024, fans finally got to see a new model. In addition, Bugatti has several other models, but most are special editions.
However, Bugatti's latest supercar is only for the ultra-rich, with some rumors suggesting it will feature a new engine. Naturally, the company declined to comment, with details expected to be revealed around mid-year.

According to Head of Communications Nicole Auger, the only information confirmed so far is that the model will still use an internal combustion engine made by Bugatti, but not the famous 8.0L W16 engine.
The 8.0-liter, four-turbo W16 engine will end its existence after the launch of the Bugatti Mistral roadster and track-only Bolide versions.

Information regarding the next engine remains conflicting; some sources suggest the new Bugatti will use a naturally aspirated 8.3-liter V16 engine developed by Cosworth, while others claim it will be a smaller engine, such as the Lamborghini Revuelto's V12 or a Volkswagen Group V8. It's possible the upcoming Bugatti will utilize an entirely new engine.
Regardless, the company's leaders have confirmed that the next Bugatti will be a hybrid model. Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac has previously stated that we will be "surprised" by the next model after the Chiron.
He also emphasized that the new model will have unprecedented features and a "highly electric" powertrain based on "a very appealing internal combustion engine."
Previously, Bugatti's former Design Director, Achim Anscheidt, had said that the model would be "even better" than the Mistral: "It will be fantastic, in terms of proportion, technology, innovation, surprise; it will completely overwhelm people and it's a real pleasure to be working on this project."
Bugatti began designing this model in 2021, when the Chiron was still on sale. Notably, the upcoming hybrid supercar will be the final product designed by Achim Anscheidt before his retirement in 2023 after nearly two decades leading Bugatti's design department.
Frank Heyl is currently in charge of designing future models. Unlike the Chiron, which is simply a major upgrade of the Veyron, the new Bugatti model is said to use an entirely new chassis.
Rumors suggest that this model could be even more unique than its predecessors, with production numbers potentially lower. Previously, the Chiron was limited to 500 units and the Veyron to 450 units.
According to Mate Rimac's Instagram post, the new model was unveiled at the company's partner meeting in November 2023. Although the global launch is only a few months away, deliveries to customers will not begin until 2026.
Currently, Bugatti is focused on completing production of the Mistral and Bolide, two limited-edition models with 99 and 40 units produced respectively. Meanwhile, Bugatti recently delivered the last "standard" Chiron.
This marks a new milestone for Bugatti and fuels fan anticipation for the new model in mid-2024.
