Recently, the People's Committee of Chieng Sinh commune, Dien Bien province, conducted a review of the area for macadamia and coffee cultivation, determining the boundaries of the core macadamia zone of the High-Tech Agriculture and Tourism Joint Stock Company. This is one of the new directions for Chieng Sinh commune after attracting investors to participate in agricultural production, creating a cultivation area for local products to develop together with the people. Therefore, Chieng Sinh commune quickly established a working group to directly inspect and review the actual area of macadamia and coffee cultivation in the commune, specifically determining the boundaries of the cultivation zone, assessing the growth and development of the crops, and orienting the expansion of the area according to the plan. Mr. Do Van Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Chieng Sinh commune, said: "The review helps us complete the land database, serving land management work, and at the same time determine the potential and advantages of each land area in developing key crops."

Currently, Chiềng Sinh commune has identified macadamia and coffee as key crops, suitable for the natural conditions of the mountainous region. In recent years, the commune has collaborated with businesses and local people to develop many intercropping and concentrated planting models, bringing clear economic benefits. Many households have converted unproductive land to macadamia and coffee cultivation, increasing their income and contributing to sustainable poverty reduction. Mr. Sơn added: In the future, the commune will continue to expand the coffee planting area to 800 hectares, linked with the raw material area planning, encouraging businesses to cooperate in production and consumption; at the same time, promoting the application of techniques and training in care to improve the productivity and quality of the crops.
Furthermore, the development of macadamia and coffee growing areas is closely linked to forest protection and environmental conservation. Integrated agricultural and forestry production models are gradually emerging, helping to increase forest cover, improve income, and contribute to the local goal of green and sustainable economic development.
Mr. Do Quang Minh, Head of the Rural Development Sub-Department of Dien Bien province, said: "The planning for the development of macadamia and coffee trees in Chieng Sinh commune is the right direction, consistent with the province's agricultural restructuring orientation. The Sub-Department will coordinate and provide technical support, build key growing areas, contributing to increasing income and sustainably reducing poverty for the people."

Mr. Lo Van Tinh, from Thin B village, Chieng Sinh commune, shared: "My family grows over 1 hectare of coffee, intercropped with 1 hectare of macadamia nuts. Each year we harvest over 2 tons of coffee beans, selling them for about 60 million VND, which is much more stable than growing upland rice before. The macadamia trees are starting to bear fruit, so the future will definitely be better."
The development of macadamia and coffee cultivation not only opens up new directions in crop structure but also contributes to boosting the agricultural economy, increasing income, and improving people's lives. This is also a concrete step taken by Chieng Sinh commune, Dien Bien province, in achieving the goal of sustainable poverty reduction, green economic development, and building new rural areas in the highlands.
