Enhancing competitiveness
According to Phung Thanh Trinh, after graduating with a degree in mechatronics from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in 2019, he observed and realized the effective application of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in daily life. Therefore, he dreamed of building a drone technology ecosystem that would allow control from distances ranging from a few hundred meters to several tens of kilometers. He then returned to Da Nang to implement his idea and established XB Technology Co., Ltd. with like-minded partners.
“It took me and my colleagues nearly two years to complete the research on the XBLink drones, with a series of tests, developments, upgrades, and improvements to compete with existing drone technologies on the market. I accepted that I had to invest time in perfecting the drone and focus on R&D (innovation, improvement, new services, and enhancing competitiveness). Because without a distinct advantage in innovation, it would be difficult to compete with other technology companies. Thanks to our continuous efforts, the XBLink product won second prize in the Qualcomm Vietnam Innovation Challenge 2023 organized by the multinational semiconductor corporation Qualcomm Technologies (USA),” Mr. Trinh shared.
According to Mr. Trinh, in the Vietnamese market, XB develops two main lines of drones, including delivery drones with four versions aimed at solving future traffic and logistics problems as cities become increasingly overloaded.
Firstly, XBLink SAT is designed with satellite connectivity to maintain stable transmission in any environment, including forests, mountains, offshore areas, and remote locations without mobile coverage.
Secondly, the XBLink 4G R2 offers enhanced 4G networking, providing a clear upgrade in speed and responsiveness, ensuring consistent data performance.
Thirdly, the XBLink 5G R2 is built on a 5G platform, providing significantly higher data rates and much lower latency, suitable for real-time application requirements.
Finally, XBLink Dualcell supports simultaneous 4G and 5G operation with two parallel data channels working together, reducing the risk of connection loss and maintaining consistently ultra-low latency.
XB's products are chosen by customers because of their mastery of both hardware and software, long-distance data transmission technology over telecommunications infrastructure, high customizability for each application field, and cost optimization while still meeting international standards.
“With delivery drones, XB conducted a testing program and recorded positive results regarding stable flight performance, real-time data transmission, sharp video quality, and safe transportation. In the future, XB plans to cooperate with the Da Nang authorities to promote the drone logistics model, aiming to make Da Nang one of the leading centers for testing and deploying drone models for the low-income economy in Vietnam and Southeast Asia,” Mr. Trinh informed.
Expanding export markets
Thanks to its outstanding advantages, in addition to the Vietnamese market, XB is now focusing on exporting modules and solutions for controlling drones via 4G/5G mobile networks and satellites in the international market. This is one of the important and high-value systems in modern drones. To date, XB has exported more than 1,000 products to over 30 countries worldwide, spanning from Europe and the Americas to Asia, Australia, and Africa. The main customer base is concentrated in markets with strong drone industries such as the United States and European countries.
To further expand the drone dream into the international market, in early May, XB was honored to participate in the Xponential 2026 exhibition in the US as a member of the Vietnam UAV Alliance delegation, in collaboration with the US Trade Representative. Mr. Trinh believes this is a significant milestone for XB in bringing Vietnamese technology to the world. Simultaneously, it creates opportunities for long-term strategic cooperation between the Vietnamese UAV ecosystem and international organizations. XB also hopes to become a crucial technological link in the UAV cooperation network between Vietnam and partners worldwide.
Mr. Trinh said that drone technology is gradually becoming a strategic industry, especially in the fields of logistics, infrastructure, and low-income economy. XB is proud to be one of the few UAV technology startups in Central Vietnam participating in this exhibition. XB hopes to receive support and assistance from the city government to build a drone technology ecosystem, creating momentum for Vietnamese technology startups to develop and expand internationally. In the future, XB expects to continue expanding exports, while aiming to build production capacity and establish a presence in the US market to participate more deeply in the global drone technology supply chain.
