This can be considered a huge breakthrough for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam, affirming the ability of Vietnamese engineers from Diginal (a member of CT Group) to design chips and master core technologies.

Strategic technology products for all countries.

In the era of comprehensive digital transformation and the trend of developing digital twins, intelligent devices and systems must be able to accurately "sense," "understand," and "respond" to the real world . Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) and Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) chips are the key "bridges," helping to collect and transform physical signals into digital data, creating a foundation for real-time simulation, optimization, and operation – a core element in building digital twins and driving digital transformation in all fields.

Many people still don't understand what this chip actually does. When asked this question, ChatGPT, an AI application, replied that ADCs and DACs are indispensable "bridges" that help electronic devices understand and interact with the world around them. ADCs convert analog signals—such as sound, light, and temperature—into digital signals for the chip to process, while DACs perform the reverse process, controlling speakers, motors, or sensor systems.

In security and defense, they are integrated into radar systems, precision-guided weapons, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and surveillance and navigation systems. In smart agriculture , ADCs/DACs support sensors that measure humidity, temperature, and soil quality, controlling automated irrigation systems to optimize productivity and save resources. For autonomous vehicles, they play a crucial role in camera systems, LiDAR sensors, radar, and intelligent driving assistance, helping vehicles detect and handle situations quickly. In AI and consumer electronics devices, ADCs/DACs are present in microphones, headphones, smart speakers, and virtual reality (VR) devices, helping to reproduce realistic and smooth sound and images. In healthcare, they are used in ultrasound machines, heart rate monitors, and diagnostic imaging equipment (CT, MRI), improving the accuracy and reliability of diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, ADCs and DACs are considered indispensable "bridges" between the physical and digital worlds, playing a fundamental role in the modern technological era.

More importantly, semiconductor chips are key to the comprehensive digital transformation process, supporting the construction of digital replicas for complex systems, enabling the connection, analysis, and processing of massive amounts of data in real time. Mastering semiconductor chip technology means holding the "key" to developing an independent digital economy , enhancing competitiveness, and protecting national security in the digital age.

Why are ADC chips important to Vietnam?

In phase 3 of digital transformation – the highest stage of development with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and comprehensive automation – the ability to digitize the real world becomes a mandatory foundation. Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) chips are the core component responsible for this role.

Technically, an ADC's role is to convert continuous analog signals (e.g., sound, light, temperature, pressure) into digital signals, enabling microprocessors (MCUs), FPGAs, or AI systems to process and make quick, accurate decisions. Key technical parameters such as resolution, sampling rate, and noise level directly determine the accuracy, reliability, and performance of the entire system.

In the current digital transformation era, systems require the ability to collect and analyze data in real time (real-time data acquisition), while simultaneously processing massive amounts of information with extremely low latency (ultra-low latency). ADCs (Automated Digital Control Units) are the "gateway" connecting billions of sensors across IoT platforms, operating industrial robots, controlling autonomous vehicles, optimizing smart factory production lines, and supporting precision medicine applications.

Representatives from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and CT Group Chairman Tran Kim Chung performed the ceremony to launch the ADC chip design on June 29th.

For Vietnam, designing and developing its own ADC chips not only enhances technological capabilities but also elevates the country's position in the global value chain, particularly in front-end design and system-level optimization, which generate the greatest added value. Mastering core technologies reduces dependence on imported strategic components, increases localization rates, and ensures quality control and security from the very beginning.

More importantly, ADC chips play a fundamental role in building digital ecosystems: from smart cities and smart grids to precision agriculture and digital healthcare solutions. This is the stepping stone for Vietnam to develop "Make in Vietnam" products with high technological and intellectual content, ready to compete in the international market.

Therefore, ADC chips are not just electronic components, but are also considered a "technological key" that will help Vietnam break through in the comprehensive digital transformation phase, affirming the nation's position on the global technology map.
