Representatives of CT Group and Can Tho University signed the UAV Pilot Training School project.
The Mekong Delta is facing climate change, saline intrusion, labor shortages and the need to reduce emissions in production. These are big challenges, but also opportunities for the Mekong Delta to take the lead in successfully applying science and technology, towards smart agriculture, green and sustainable agriculture that can compete with the world market. In line with that orientation, Can Tho University is the leading knowledge center of the Mekong Delta in conjunction with CT Group - a multi-industry economic group, mastering many important core technologies, implementing many projects combining academic knowledge with technological strength and innovation spirit.
Notably, the project to establish the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) - Agricultural Robot Center and the UAV Pilot Training School. Accordingly, the UAV - Agricultural Robot Center will have three major missions: researching and deploying UAV and robot technologies directly applied to agriculture, from planting, caring, harvesting to carbon credit assessment; becoming a center for training high-quality human resources - UAV pilots and skilled technicians, ready to serve domestically and internationally; acting as a bridge of cooperation between schools, businesses and the government, promoting innovation, contributing to sustainable development for the region and the country.
Sharing about the benefits of the UAV Pilot Training School, Mr. Tran Nguyen Minh Khang, Director of UAV Pilot Training, CT Group Corporation, said: UAV, agricultural drone, flycam are existing professions in today's social life. In addition, the Law on People's Air Defense No. 49/2024/QH15, effective from July 1, 2025, has two requirements: drones must be registered, pilots must have a pilot certificate, so it is necessary to establish a UAV Pilot Training School. This is an environment to share and optimize facilities between CT Group and Can Tho University. Government agencies can easily manage and query real-time information. For schools, scientists have a playground for direct consultation activities and testing of new theories. For businesses, they can predict the next market development direction. Farmers have a community to listen to and have scientists to answer professional questions.
Dr. Le Van Lam, Vice Rector of Can Tho University, shared: The signing of the cooperation agreement between Can Tho University and CT Group has special significance, marking the close connection between the school and businesses in bringing breakthrough technology to agriculture in the Mekong Delta. Contributing to concretizing the big goal of digital transformation and developing smart agriculture. The establishment of the UAV - Agricultural Robot Center and the UAV Pilot Training Center not only opens up opportunities for research and development of modern UAV and agricultural robot solutions, but also creates an environment for training high-quality human resources, meeting the needs of social and business development. This is the foundation for the Mekong Delta to improve production quality, reduce costs, reduce emissions and move towards building a green and sustainable agricultural value chain. With the mission of being a key higher education institution in the region, Can Tho University commits to mobilizing maximum resources, accompanying CT Group to turn commitments into concrete results, contributing to making the Mekong Delta a model of smart agriculture not only in Vietnam but also in the region.
Can Tho University and CT Group also cooperate in training on advanced packaging for the semiconductor industry with key contents such as developing human resources for the Vietnamese semiconductor industry through training, scholarships and career orientation programs. Developing a professional network in the fields of advanced packaging technology and artificial intelligence (AI), taking advantage of the existing academic-industrial connections of Can Tho University. The cooperation project on developing carbon credits for the Mekong Delta between the two units aims to promote green transformation and create more sustainable economic growth. At the same time, create added value from the ecosystem and enhance the region's resilience to climate change through the use of environmental factors to promote sustainable growth. In particular, the project focuses on carbon credits in sustainable shrimp farming, sustainable rice cultivation, and public lighting conversion. The project develops high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation using AI technology; cooperate to share and develop high-quality human resources; cooperate to expand the network and attract domestic and international experts...
According to Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, creating an innovative, dynamic and effective ecosystem is the driving force and an urgent requirement. In that ecosystem, the close connection with schools, where human resources are trained, and businesses - the core force, pioneers in innovation activities, in technology commercialization, and supporting schools, plays an extremely important role. This is the factor that creates breakthroughs, promotes innovation, and forms smart, green, circular and sustainable production models. Specific models will contribute to the development of the Mekong Delta in the future, becoming a model of digital transformation in agriculture.
