Proactively ensure the safety of power grid corridors.

In the process of agricultural mechanization and accelerating the construction of transportation infrastructure, the use of drones, dump trucks, cranes, forklifts, etc., is becoming increasingly common, contributing to increased productivity and progress. However, this also brings the risk of violating the safety protection corridor of power infrastructure if not properly controlled.

In reality, in many areas where medium and high voltage power lines pass through, production and construction activities always carry inherent risks.

Electricity company employees went directly to the site to disseminate information and provide guidance on regulations regarding the safety corridor of high-voltage power lines to local residents.

Just one careless mistake, such as controlling a drone too close to power lines, operating a crane without maintaining a safe distance from electrical discharge, or failing to fully lower the crane boom or dump truck when crossing high-voltage power lines, can cause power grid failures, disrupting widespread power supply and even threatening human lives.

As someone who directly operates drones for agricultural purposes, Mr. Truong Tan Tai (residing in My An 2 hamlet, Thap Muoi commune) shared: "This drone flying job looks easy, but it's actually very stressful, especially when spraying in fields where high-voltage power lines run across."

Just a small mistake in flight programming can cause the drone to be "sucked" into the power lines due to electromagnetic induction, rendering the remote control ineffective.

After receiving thorough guidance from the power company staff on ensuring flight safety in areas near power lines, I always remember and adhere to the principles they instructed, such as: conducting a survey beforehand, flying at least 6 meters away from power lines, and absolutely not flying in strong winds or with limited visibility.”

In response to practical demands, Dong Thap Power Company has shifted significantly from formal communication to direct on-site communication combined with the distribution of informational leaflets.

At construction sites where 110kV power lines cross, power company employees directly distribute leaflets and post electrical safety warning signs in vehicle cabins, instructing drivers on identifying dangerous distances and reminding them of mandatory procedures when operating vehicles near power lines.

At the same time, warning signs and height restriction signs have been installed at key locations to create a "technical barrier" to protect the power grid.

From a technical perspective, Mr. Ho Ngoc Thao, Director of the Dong Thap High Voltage Grid Enterprise, Dong Thap Power Company, emphasized: "For 110kV power grids, the minimum safe distance as stipulated is 6 meters, but we always require motorized vehicles to maintain a distance of over 6 meters to ensure absolute safety."

When working near power lines, it is mandatory to have a safety supervisor present, and to inspect and lower the crane and vehicle's travel to the maximum extent when moving under the power grid. Simultaneously, the vehicle must be properly grounded, warning signs installed, and close coordination with the power management unit is required.”

Despite the efforts of the electricity sector, the reality is that there are still some people and construction units who do not fully understand the dangers of violating safety corridors.

Actions such as flying kites, operating drones, constructing buildings close to power lines, or driving motor vehicles without maintaining a safe distance still occur.

Mr. Duong Minh Tri, Deputy Head of Thap Muoi Power Company, said: “We advise people to absolutely not fly kites or other flying objects within 500 meters of high-voltage power lines; and not to attempt to handle incidents themselves, such as removing kites or pulling objects that are entangled in power lines.”

For construction units, before commencing work near power lines, they should proactively contact authorities for guidance and safety markers. The power sector is always ready to provide free support, but under no circumstances should safety be compromised by negligence.”

According to the law, violating electrical safety distances can result in high penalties, even vehicle confiscation if it causes an accident. However, the greatest damage is not just financial, but the risk to human lives and the stability of the power system.

Electricity is the "lifeblood" of the economy , and the safety corridor of the power grid is the protective layer that ensures that this flow remains uninterrupted.

In the journey of developing high-tech agriculture and modern infrastructure, ensuring electrical safety cannot rely solely on the power sector but requires the involvement of the entire society.

Every citizen needs to raise their awareness, strictly adhere to regulations on safe distances, and proactively cooperate with the power industry when working near power lines. Only then can the risks from "invisible points of contact" be prevented early on.
