Today, Politburo member, Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Hanoi, starting his visit to Vietnam from December 1 to 2.

Earlier, on the same morning, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang welcomed Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Government Office. Mr. Wang Yi and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang co-chaired the 15th meeting of the Vietnam-China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee.
This is the first meeting of the Vietnam - China Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China; both sides have events and changes in the title and personnel of the Steering Committee Chairman.
Vietnam and China highly appreciate the positive developments in the relationship between the two Parties and countries in recent times, especially the frequent high-level exchanges and contacts, and the continued in-depth substantive cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and investment.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang suggested that the two sides maintain balanced and sustainable bilateral trade growth; improve the scale and quality of investment cooperation; closely coordinate to speed up the resolution of difficulties in a number of cooperation projects; and prepare well to soon restore tourism cooperation after nearly three years of interruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Appreciating the cooperation proposals of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized: China attaches importance to developing friendly neighborly relations with Vietnam; is ready to closely coordinate to prepare well for high-level visits and contacts in the coming time; and agreed to continue to effectively promote cooperation mechanisms between the two countries, especially the mechanism of the Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation between Vietnam and China.
Also this afternoon, at the Foreign Ministry Guest House, a meeting took place between Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

This afternoon, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also paid a courtesy visit to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the headquarters of the Party Central Committee Office. It is expected that tomorrow morning (December 2), Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will have a meeting with Party Central Committee Secretary and Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung.
