Focus on key vocational training

Mai Thi Van Anh from Ninh Thang commune (Hoa Lu) is currently a second-year culinary student at the Faculty of Tourism Economics (Ninh Binh College of Mechanics). With passion, enthusiasm and increasingly improved professional skills, Van Anh is confident about her upcoming plans in the future.

Van Anh shared: The strength in economic development in Ninh Thang commune is tourism . I personally see that cooking is a very promising profession because it is suitable for the development trend of the locality. Therefore, after graduating from high school, I chose to study cooking.

After graduating, I will apply to work at a big restaurant to learn more skills, culinary culture of many places and accumulate finances. My future goal is to open my own restaurant in my hometown. For me, cuisine is not only food but also cultural stories told through the chef's fascinating story.

Identifying the tourism industry, including culinary arts, as one of the key industries of the province in the current period, Ninh Binh Mechanical College has invested heavily in both facilities and human resources to attract students.

Mr. Tran Cong Quyen, Director of Admissions Center, Ninh Binh Mechanical College said: Based on the province's key vocational development orientation, the school has proactively anticipated the trend, introducing training in Culinary Arts with the goal of attracting many students, contributing to creating human resources for the locality and exporting labor.

Every year, the number of students studying Culinary Arts at Ninh Binh College of Mechanics is about 300 students. During their studies, students can find jobs at restaurants near the school with tasks such as: preliminary processing, table setting, or taking on a stage in processing. According to the tracking data of the Admissions Center, graduates of the Culinary Arts program all find jobs with quite good incomes, many of them go to Japan to work in Japanese restaurants.

Automotive Technology is also one of the key career fields of the province, which has been focused on by vocational training institutions in recent years. Being well-trained, having access to many modern technologies; after studying, students can easily find suitable jobs, or create jobs for themselves... these are the basic advantages, creating a special "attraction" for the current Automotive Technology profession.

After finishing high school, without taking the university entrance exam, Nguyen Thien Khiem (Ninh Binh city) applied to study a vocational course. The profession he chose was Automotive Technology, Vietnam-Soviet College of Electrical Engineering and Construction. "The profession of Automotive Technology requires students to be meticulous, eager to learn and make efforts to adapt to the technological changes that occur every day. But passion will help me overcome the challenges" - Khiem said.

Thien Khiem’s efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges while studying Automotive Technology were also rewarded by the wide range of job opportunities. According to statistics from the training institution, graduates can easily find jobs. Many even earn income while they are still in their internship period.

Automotive technology has been a popular major for students in recent years.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong, Vice Principal of the Vietnam-Soviet College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, said: The Faculty of Dynamic Mechanics currently teaches two professions: Construction machine operator and Automotive Technology. The current teaching staff has 18 people, 100% of whom meet the required standards. Automotive Technology is a key profession in the ASEAN region.

Since 2017, the Automotive Technology profession has been invested by the French Government's AFD project with a budget of 1.5 million EURO. The project has invested in equipment for teaching automotive technology: Cars; Models; Equipment; Tools... and training programs and materials. Therefore, basically, the current training equipment of the school has met the technological requirements and needs of businesses.

To improve the quality of training, the school has cooperated with businesses such as Hyundai Thanh Cong; Mitshu Ninh Binh... to participate in building programs, curriculum, training, production internships and receiving students to work after graduation.

With these advantages, every year, the Automotive Technology profession is the profession that recruits the most students at the Vietnam-Soviet College of Electrical Engineering and Construction. At present, the whole faculty has over 300 students. It is considered a trendy profession, the rate of students having jobs after graduation is 90% or more. Among them, many students boldly open auto garages, creating jobs for many workers, ensuring a good source of income.

Investing and developing key industries and occupations to meet the development needs of the domestic and foreign labor market is an inevitable trend that vocational training institutions have been grasping. From there, it contributes to improving the quality of human resources, forming a skilled workforce, and expanding job opportunities with high income for workers.

In the period of 2016-2020 and orientation to 2025, in Ninh Binh province, there are 7 public schools (5 colleges, 2 intermediate schools), selected to train 29 key occupations (calculated by school unit and level), with 8 international-level occupations, 7 ASEAN-level occupations, and 14 national-level occupations.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, said: In fact, through the training program for key industries and occupations in the period of 2021-2020, the training quality and skills of students of vocational training institutions in the province have been significantly improved. Graduates are closest to the requirements of the labor market, so it is easy to find jobs with good income.

Promoting the achieved results, the Labor Department will continue to advise and propose adding key industries and occupations suitable to the socio-economic development situation of the province in the new period.
