The Champions League final between PSG and Inter Milan, at 2am on June 1 at Allianz Arena (Munich), shows a clear difference in squad building costs between the two teams.

The price PSG had to pay to have a squad capable of competing in Europe's most prestigious tournament is very expensive.

Since receiving investment from Qatar, with Al-Khelaifi as president, PSG has been on a relentless transfer spree with a total value poured into the market exceeding 2.2 billion euros in 15 years.

PSG reached the 2020 Champions League final, after the record signing of Neymar (222 million euros), but lost to Bayern Munich - then led by Hansi Flick, who had just helped Barcelona have a spectacular season.

This is the second Champions League final in PSG's 55-year history. The Parisian capital team is eager to win the "Orejona" (elephant ear cup).

PSG's faith is in Luis Enrique and the total revolution he brings. The team is built from young and disciplined talents, instead of famous stars with high egos.

The squad that reached the final in Munich alone had a total investment of 700 million euros, not including salaries or commissions.

This figure is much higher than Inter. The Serie A representative spent 291.3 million euros to help Simone Inzaghi reach the final of Europe's most attractive tournament for the second time in 3 seasons.

With this figure, Inter have the third lowest squad cost to reach the Champions League final in the last 10 years.

In the past decade, only Atletico Madrid in 2016, and Inter themselves in 2023, have reached the Champions League final with a lower squad cost than the current Nerazzurri.

The work that coach Inzaghi has done has helped many players increase their market value fourfold, as in the case of Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella.

Meanwhile, PSG always spend a lot in every transfer window. The final piece of the current squad was Kvaratskhelia in January.

The Georgian, a one-time Serie A star, joined PSG for a fee of 70 million euros; equivalent to the Achraf Hakimi deal in 2021.

PSG's midfield – the most efficient in the Champions League this season – cost a total of 122.5 million euros: Vitinha (40), Joao Neves (60), Fabian Ruiz (22.5).

Meanwhile, Inter's midfield only cost 32.5 million euros, which is the price of Barella.

Hakan Calhanoglu and Mkhitaryan both arrived on free transfers.

The difference in investment between the two teams is very clear. In the last two transfer windows (summer and winter), PSG spent 239 million euros, while Inter only spent 76 million.

Despite not investing too much in recent years, Inter still asserts itself as one of the most complete teams in Europe, with an impressive journey in the Champions League.

Now, Inter are PSG's last obstacle on their journey to conquer their first Champions League trophy - a dream that has haunted Qatar for the past 15 years.
