M opens its doors to new players.

On the afternoon of March 6th, coach Kim Sang-sik announced the first squad list for the Vietnamese national team in 2025, preparing for a friendly match against Cambodia and the opening round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers against Laos. Among the 26 players called up, Vo Hoang Minh Khoa stands out. The player, born in 2001, has improved significantly over the past year, particularly shining in the V-League 2024-2025 with 3 goals and 2 assists. Notably, the number 10 midfielder from Binh Duong FC possesses strong tackling ability and an intelligent, sharp playing style. His eagerness to contribute and showcase his abilities in this call-up promises to make him a formidable new addition to the national team.

Tien Linh will have the opportunity to shine at home in Binh Duong wearing the Vietnamese national team's jersey.

If Minh Khoa is a sweet fruit at the perfect ripeness, then Pham Ly Duc is the perfect example of "the right team, at the right time" in his first call-up to the Vietnamese national team. After 14 matches for Ba Ria-Vung Tau FC in the 2023-2024 First Division, he joined HAGL at the beginning of this season and immediately became a key player, appearing in 100% of V-League and National Cup matches. This young player's presence in the national team also helps him gain match experience in preparation for the SEA Games 33 in Thailand at the end of the year. His teammate, Tran Bao Toan, who trained in South Korea before leaving the national team just before the 2024 AFF Cup, was also given this opportunity, alongside Nguyen Thai Son and Trieu Viet Hung. In addition, goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet also made his return to the Vietnamese national team under coach Kim.

NEW GOALS, NEW SPIRIT

The Vietnamese national team is expected to gather in Binh Duong on March 11th, play a friendly match against Cambodia (March 19th) before kicking off the third round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers with a home game against Laos (March 25th). The match against Cambodia will be noteworthy as it marks the Vietnamese team's debut after winning the Southeast Asian Championship. Cambodia's squad, comprised of naturalized players from Africa, South America, and Japan, promises to pose an interesting challenge for Coach Kim Sang-sik's team.

Coach Kim will view this training camp as an opportunity to reassess his players, especially regarding their spirit and desire to contribute. In fact, over the past period, Coach Kim and his assistants have continuously traveled to various football fields to find new talents and assess the current form of key players. Coach Kim does not see the 2024 AFF Cup championship as the pinnacle, but merely the beginning of a new cycle. The South Korean coach is quite pleased that players who won the 2024 AFF Cup, such as Quang Hai, goalkeeper Dinh Trieu, Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Van Thanh, Duy Manh, Tien Linh, Tuan Hai, Hoang Duc, etc., still retain their desire to contribute to the national team.

The flame of the 2024 AFF Cup will once again ignite, ushering in a new and ambitious chapter for coach Kim Sang-sik and the Vietnamese national team.
