Improve skills and promote innovation in labor and production.
At Luxshare-ICT Van Trung Co., Ltd., the company's labor union identifies skill enhancement for employees as one of its key priorities. Each year, the company organizes 200 to 230 training courses on electrical and electronic engineering, quality management, automated machinery operation, and occupational safety.
In addition to in-person training sessions, the trade union collaborates with businesses to build an electronic learning resource library, digitizing documents, instructional videos on standard operating procedures, equipment operation processes, and professional content so that workers can learn and access information on online platforms.
The trade union also promotes and encourages its members to participate in online learning to improve their professional skills and meet job requirements. As a result, workers can quickly adapt to their jobs, while experienced workers can proactively update their knowledge and improve their skills without being limited by time or location.
According to Bui Van Truong, Chairman of the company's Trade Union, the application of technology in training significantly reduces time and costs, while also enabling employees to regularly update their knowledge and meet production requirements.
Improving professional skills and qualifications also creates a foundation for workers to participate in innovative activities and technical improvements within enterprises. Over 10,000 workers participated in the "Each Union Member - One New Initiative Each Year" movement, with many initiatives being directly applied to production. Numerous teams and groups recorded productivity increases of 10-15% compared to before.
At Ha Phong Garment Export Joint Stock Company, the Trade Union has also strengthened the application of information technology in its propaganda work and the launching of emulation movements. Through online information channels, much content about the "Excellent Worker - Creative Worker" movement, exemplary advanced individuals, and technical innovation initiatives has been widely disseminated, making it easier for workers to access information, exchange experiences, and learn from each other.
Thanks to this, the "Excellent Worker - Creative Worker" movement continues to be effectively maintained. Over the past five years, the company has had 361 individuals win awards in competitions for innovative ideas and technical improvements, contributing to cost savings, increased productivity, and improved product quality.
Among the exemplary individuals is Mr. Tong Van Tuyen, Head of the Mechanical Team at Ha Phong Garment Export Joint Stock Company. Between 2018 and 2023, he researched and implemented numerous innovations such as a wide-width fabric unwinding machine, a product label folding machine, a product box transport vehicle, and an automatic unloading gate at the finished goods warehouse. These innovations helped reduce labor costs, improve production efficiency, and generate billions of dong in profit for the company each year.
According to Mr. Tong Van Tuyen, Head of the Mechanical Team, the emulation movements launched by the company's Trade Union, which are publicized and shared on online platforms, have motivated employees to boldly propose new ideas, share experiences, and find solutions for improvement in the production process. The attention and encouragement from the trade union also help many initiatives have the opportunity to be perfected and put into practical application.
According to Ms. Vu Thi Thanh Ha, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Ha Phong Garment Export Joint Stock Company, along with organizing emulation movements, the Trade Union is strengthening the application of information technology in the dissemination of good models, effective initiatives, and exemplary workers. Through this, workers have an additional channel to exchange experiences, learn from each other, and actively participate in labor and production emulation movements.
Practical experience at the company shows that innovating methods of communication and launching movements has contributed to spreading the spirit of creativity among workers. During the period 2023-2025, trade unions at all levels in the province implemented 152 projects and products with a total value of over 614 billion VND; 9,852 technical improvement initiatives were applied, focusing on technological innovation, improving working conditions, and increasing labor productivity.
Connecting union members and expanding benefits in the digital environment.
In addition to supporting production, digital technology is also being applied by trade unions at all levels to innovate working methods and strengthen connections with union members.
In Tan Dinh commune, the commune's Trade Union manages 43 grassroots trade unions with over 10,300 members. Previously, the implementation of policies and guidelines, or gathering member opinions, was mainly done through direct meetings, which was time-consuming and costly. From its inception, the Tan Dinh commune Trade Union has actively promoted the application of information technology in its operations. A system of Zalo groups, email, and online platforms has been established, facilitating faster information exchange between higher-level and grassroots trade unions.
Previously, a directive might take several days to reach a grassroots trade union, but now information is transmitted almost instantaneously. Meetings, training sessions, and consultations are held online, saving considerable time and money.
According to Than Quang Duong, Chairman of the Tan Dinh Commune Trade Union, through online interaction channels, many feedback from workers has been received and processed promptly. Many issues related to regulations and policies have been resolved at the grassroots level, limiting the occurrence of labor disputes.
At the Foxconn Science and Technology Group, where more than 120,000 workers are employed in shifts, digital platforms have become crucial tools for disseminating information to employees. Through the company's fan page, the internal iCivet Foxconn application, and electronic display screens located in factories, canteens, and dormitories, content related to legal policies, occupational safety, union rights, and welfare programs is quickly and visually communicated.
In particular, the "One Hour of Happiness" program, with its Q&A sessions, interactive games, and real-life case studies, attracted a large number of workers. Topics such as labor law, social insurance, and corporate culture became more accessible.
In addition, welfare programs are also being moved to the digital environment. The Trade Union of Hon Hai Science and Technology Group has collaborated with the company's leadership to build and implement a website offering exclusive privileges for employees, connecting with more than 50 strategic partners in the fields of food and beverage, beauty, healthcare, entertainment, fashion, supermarkets, hotels, and tourism…
Through this, with just a few taps on their phones or employee ID cards, employees can access hundreds of practical benefits, helping them save on living expenses, improve their quality of life, and easily recharge after stressful working hours.
According to the Bac Ninh Provincial Federation of Labor, although many achievements have been made, the application of technology in trade union activities still faces certain difficulties. In many businesses, especially small businesses, the equipment and resources for digital transformation are still limited.
A segment of the workforce, particularly older workers, is unfamiliar with accessing information and using digital platforms. Meanwhile, the majority of grassroots trade union officials are part-time and frequently change, resulting in uneven adoption and use of new software.
Based on practical experience, many trade union officials believe that continued investment in technological infrastructure for grassroots trade unions is necessary, especially in businesses outside industrial zones and small-scale enterprises. Along with this, it is important to strengthen training courses and digital skills development for trade union officials and workers, helping union members access services and amenities more easily in the digital environment.
Local trade unions also recommended the early completion of a shared membership data system, synchronizing management software throughout the entire trade union system; and expanding digital welfare programs to make it easier for workers to access information, register, and benefit from trade union support policies.
The application of digital technology is helping trade unions at all levels improve management efficiency, strengthen connections with members, and support businesses in production and business. This is not only a requirement of the development process but also an important solution for trade unions to continue affirming their role in accompanying businesses, contributing to increased labor productivity, promoting production and business, and building harmonious and stable labor relations in the future.
