What's happening to Bui Hoang Viet Anh?

At the peak of his career and expected to become a mainstay in the Vietnam national team, central defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh still cannot shine due to frequent injuries.

Statistics show that in the past two years, central defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh has had to miss 6 matches due to injuries, 4 of which prevented him from contributing to the Vietnam national team. Injuries are inevitable for players, but at the peak of his career, the frequency of absences for the central defender born in 1999 is truly worrying.

Why the injury?

Bui Hoang Viet Anh is having persistent problems with his knees, especially in two complex areas: the ligaments and the meniscus. These are injuries that require the player to have a long and thorough treatment and recovery process, otherwise they will continuously recur, even losing their career.

Perhaps the high frequency of competition in both domestic and international arenas is also the reason why players like Viet Anh are at high risk of injury.

CAHN is a club with high goals, often having to compete in many tournaments, putting great pressure on the musculoskeletal system of its key players. However, factors related to physical condition, constitution and medical treatment and rehabilitation cannot be ruled out.

Difficult for coach Kim Sang-sik

Bui Hoang Viet Anh had a period of remarkable growth in the national team. With a height of 1.84 m and a calm playing style, he is expected to become the new leader of the defense, taking over from his seniors Duy Manh and Tien Dung.

However, at the ASEAN Cup 2024, this central defender only played once due to a knee injury. The knee is not completely healthy and is the biggest obstacle hindering Viet Anh's career progress.

This must be the concern of coach Kim Sang-sik. The Vietnam team still needs a new leader or at least a physically strong player in the defense.
