Round 9 of the V-League 2025-2026 concluded last weekend with quite a few surprises.
Notably, the match saw defending champions Nam Dinh draw 2-2 away at Hoang Anh Gia Lai, title contender Hanoi FC lose 1-2 to hosts Hong Linh Ha Tinh, and league leaders Ninh Binh be held to a 1-1 draw at home by Becamex Ho Chi Minh City.
For two-time consecutive champions Nam Dinh , their unsuccessful run of form continues. In their last six matches, the team from Nam Dinh has drawn three and lost three, despite temporarily replacing coach Vu Hong Viet since round 8.
This poor result leaves Nam Dinh FC in 8th place with 9 points after 9 matches, only 2 points above the bottom group.
Although they won't be playing in Round 10 this week due to their participation in the AFC Champions League Two 2025-2026, facing Hanoi FC in Round 11 on November 10th at Thien Truong Stadium promises to be a tough challenge for Coach Nguyen Trung Kien's team.

Because Hanoi FC has the strength and also needs a win to get back on track in the championship race. Having lost two and won only one of his three matches in charge of Hanoi FC, new coach Harry Kewell is also facing considerable pressure.
Meanwhile, Nam Dinh FC is facing both health and injury issues among key players, as well as psychological instability following a series of unsuccessful matches.
If the result against Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League Two on November 5th at home is not good (which is entirely possible given the strong Japanese team), things could become even more difficult for Nam Dinh FC when they return to the V-League.
Given their strength, Nam Dinh FC is certainly not in the relegation battle. The only question is how long it will take for the champions to return and be ready to compete for the V-League title this season?
Hopefully, this won't last long. Otherwise, the Thiên Trường Stadium will become increasingly empty of spectators. Looking at the attendance figures for the first five matches of the season – according to VPF statistics – it's clear: 7,000 (against Hải Phòng), 6,800 (against PVF-CAND), 4,500 (against Công An Hà Nội and Becamex TP.HCM), and 4,000 (against SHB Đà Nẵng).
