Nam Dinh Club rose to the top of the rankings, Hanoi Club unexpectedly lost heavily to Hai Phong Club

Round 2 of V-League 2023/24 witnessed a "shock" when Hai Phong Club defeated Hanoi FC right at Hang Day Stadium. Also in this round, the defending champion Cong An Ha Noi regained the feeling of victory.

On the evening of October 29, Hai Phong Club surprisingly won 5-3 right at Hang Day Stadium against Hanoi FC in the latest match of round 2 of V-League 2023/24. Striker Lucao shined with a hat-trick to help the away team leave the capital with 3 full points.

In two matches taking place on the same day, the tournament's newcomer, Quang Nam Club, had a 1-1 draw with Ho Chi Minh City Club.

Quang Nam's goal came in the first minutes of the match thanks to Paulo Conrado's goal (minute 11), while the away team from Ho Chi Minh City also took advantage of the opportunity and equalized in the 35th minute thanks to Paul-Georges Ntep.

Meanwhile, at Quy Nhon Stadium, Quy Nhon Binh Dinh Club welcomed Binh Duong team.

Right from the 11th minute, the away team Binh Duong scored the opening goal. From a corner kick, Duy Thuong jumped very high to head the ball, hitting the ground into the net of goalkeeper Van Lam.

The match was a stalemate. In the 82nd minute, receiving a cross from his teammate on the left wing, Ho Sy Giap headed the ball low to score the second goal for the visiting team Binh Duong, which also sealed the result of the match. Goals from Ho Tan Tai, Bui Hoang Viet Anh and Raphael Success helped the Public Security team "crush" the home team Hoang Anh Gia Lai with a score of 3-0 right at Pleiku Stadium. After two matches, the Hanoi Public Security Club has 4 points and temporarily rose to second place in the V-League 2023/24 rankings.

Meanwhile, the remaining team of the capital, Viettel Club, struggled to keep a point against Dong A Thanh Hoa right at home at Hang Day Stadium. With reasonable tactics from coach Popov, the away team took a 1-0 lead with a goal by Trinh Van Loi.

But then, this same central defender fouled Hoang Duc in the penalty area, causing the Thanh team to receive a penalty in the 5th minute of extra time. On the 11m mark, striker Bruno Cantanhede successfully executed the penalty, ending the match with a 1-1 draw.

In the remaining match, midfielder Dinh Thanh Trung's goal in the 90+2 minute helped the home team Hong Linh Ha Tinh retain a point at home against Song Lam Nghe An in the Central derby.

Round 3 of V-League 2023/24 is scheduled to take place on November 3 and 4, with the highlight being the Capital derby between Hanoi Police and Hanoi FC.

Song Lam Nghe An will have another Central derby with the home team Dong A Thanh Hoa, while Hong Linh Ha Tinh will visit Viettel Club's field.

Khanh Hoa will be looking for their first win in their away match against newcomer Quang Nam, while Nam Dinh Steel Blue will return home to welcome Ho Chi Minh City Club.

The remaining two matches of round 3 are Quy Nhon Binh Dinh vs Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Becamex Binh Duong vs Hai Phong. In addition, the make-up match of round 1 between Binh Duong FC and Hanoi FC will take place on November 24.
