The pretty teacher in Dong Nai has a "unique" way of teaching Literature, students are excited to study without missing a single day.

"I didn't have to wait until the Ministry of Education and Training applied the 2018 general education program for me to be aware of changing the method. I had applied this method 8 years before that," Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong happily shared.

Literature teacher adapts quickly to information technology

As a Literature teacher, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, born in 1991, working at Nhon Trach High School, Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai , always seeks methods to help students achieve the best results in their studies.

Sharing with Dan Viet newspaper reporter, Ms. Huong said: "Each lesson has knowledge about the genre, I often let students systematize knowledge using mind maps. If the lesson coincides with a holiday, I will let students decorate according to that theme.

For example, when 11th graders learn about short stories in the new year, I will let them draw a snake in a realistic style. At the same time, when 12th graders learn about poetry, I will let them draw a snake in a romantic style. Of course, it must be harmoniously combined with knowledge."

Not only that, Ms. Huong also applies information technology to design many games such as: Who is a millionaire, gold mining, crosswords, online games through Quizi software... Vivid illustrations with lessons related to Cheo and Tuong. She and her students will act out the roles of singing and reading expressively. In addition, she also applies a variety of forms of answering questions: Turning over the book to answer questions, reading poems to answer questions (whoever has the name of the poem will come up to answer questions), tearing blind bags, rolling dice, shaking fortune-telling...

Ms. Huong said: "I didn't have to wait until the Ministry of Education and Training applied the 2018 general education program for me to be aware of innovating methods. I had applied this method 8 years before - when information technology and social networks gradually became an important part of modern life. I realized that learning about the author's biography and style if only through the usual reading and teaching method makes students feel dry, difficult to remember and leaves little impression. I applied a personal Facebook page and guided students to create the author's profile in that interface. I used to let students choose other interfaces such as Instagram, Zalo for students to design, but I realized that the information and level of publicity were not as much and vivid as Facebook."

Ms. Huong does not let students work on every author, but only some great authors that help students remember easily, create interest and leave a deeper impression. According to the new program, each school year, Ms. Huong lets students work on an author according to the direction in the textbook. Students also have to imagine that author using social networks and the posts must show the life, major milestones and creative career as well as the awards and honors of that author.

"The students were extremely excited and enthusiastic about this method. They were proactive, positive and participated in lively discussions. The product was completed on time, although the process was a bit difficult, everyone was very excited. Especially when they saw their results, they were extremely happy and satisfied," Ms. Huong shared.

Once ran away from parents to go to school, took the Pedagogical exam

Ms. Huong is considered an energetic, enthusiastic teacher, talented in a number of art subjects (singing, drawing, reading), always conscious and adaptable, quick to innovate in teaching methods. Her lessons are always highly appreciated by students and colleagues for their knowledge standards and teaching methods, helping students develop the necessary skills. She participates in training excellent students of the province, participates in teaching conferences, seminars, and researches school-level lessons, achieving achievements in teaching research and method innovation.

"For me, teaching is not only about imparting knowledge but also about how to form students with the necessary abilities to solve situations in learning and in life. Literature is a special subject, related to the ability to perceive and aesthetic, so not all students have the ability to perceive literature. If only explaining in a normal way, literature teachers can easily become "anesthetists" in the eyes of students. To have products that meet the requirements, teachers must be specific guides and sometimes have to "demonstrate" if necessary.

For me, among all the subjects, Literature has the most "magnificent stage", not only helping teachers teach Literature but also teaching people because "literature is anthropology". The subject has very high applicability, it can be said to "cover" the whole of life", Ms. Huong said.

Few people know that Ms. Huong did not choose to become a teacher because of her passion or childhood dream. At that time, her family was poor so her parents did not want her to go to school. She skipped school, skipped exams and determined that she would have to work and study by herself in the future. She chose teaching because she did not have to pay tuition. That was the beginning, but later she found herself to be true to the saying "the profession chooses the person". She was also the only one in her group of 5 close friends from university who graduated and went to teach in the most favorable way.

"The more I am attached to the profession, the more I love it and children. I feel the sacred and noble mission of teaching. I am a perfectionist, so I am very passionate about each lesson and do not like to follow the beaten path.

My 10-year teaching journey is filled with so many happy and sad memories with my students that are hard to tell. I cherish every memory because thanks to my students, I always feel like I am living in my youth, full of youthful energy," Ms. Huong shared.
