Vietnam's tourism industry has continuously benefited from the groundbreaking and decisive solutions implemented by each sector and locality to enhance communication effectiveness and improve the quality of products and services, meeting the increasingly high demands of tourists.
According to data released by the General Statistics Office, in March 2025, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached over 2.05 million, an increase of 28.5% compared to the same period last year. For the first quarter as a whole, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached over 6 million, an increase of 29.6% compared to the same period last year, marking the highest quarterly visitor count ever recorded.
The tourism industry is entering a period of rapid growth after being affected by the pandemic.
Not only international tourists, but also domestic tourists are showing positive signs. A series of food and tourism festivals organized in many localities have attracted a large number of visitors, especially in the South. For example, in Vinh Long, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, many events were held to welcome domestic and international tourists. A highlight was the Vinh Long Provincial Culture , Sports and Tourism Week 2025, with many diverse, rich, and unique activities on a large scale.
By 2025, the goal is to welcome 22-23 million international tourists and 120-130 million domestic tourists. To achieve this goal, diversifying tourist sources, increasing competitiveness, and improving service attitudes, skills, and professionalism to handle all situations are crucial for those working in the tourism industry.
According to experts, it's time for the tourism industry to focus more on quality to bring higher added value to the economy . Attracting high-end and wealthy tourists will help generate higher revenue while reducing pressure on the environment and social management. Thailand is a prime example; since 2024, the country has shifted its focus from tracking the number of visitors to concentrating on revenue. They have also encouraged businesses to develop more high-end tours after a long period of attracting tourists with cheap tours!
