Prestigious scientific event
The International Congress of Physics and Mathematics (ICMP) is a prestigious scientific event in the field of Physics and Mathematics, held every three years. The 2027 conference is expected to take place over six days, from August 2nd to 7th, 2027, in Da Nang City, with the participation of approximately 600-800 scientists from around the world , including many winners of prestigious awards such as the Fields Medal, Abel Prize, Nobel Prize in Physics, and Dirac Prize.
Notably, this is the second time the conference has been held in Asia, the first being in Japan in 1978. It is also the largest international scientific event ever held in Vietnam in the field of Mathematics and Physics.
With the scale of the 2027 International Physics-Mathematics Conference, it is expected to attract many renowned scientists and leaders of the most prestigious scientific associations and organizations in the world. This will have a positive impact, contributing to promoting Da Nang as an attractive destination on the world tourism and science map, attracting the attention of the global scientific community.
According to experts, Da Nang has extensive experience in organizing international events such as the 25th International Mathematical Olympiad (VIMC 2025) taking place in August 2025. Prior to that, in 2023, the Institute for Advanced Studies in Mathematics, in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications (now the Department of Science and Technology) and the University of Education (Da Nang University), successfully organized the 10th National Mathematics Conference in Da Nang, with the participation of nearly 1,000 scientists. This success is an important foundation for Da Nang to host ICMP 2027.
Connecting and inspiring science.
Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, Vice Director of Duy Tan University, believes that the International Conference on Physics and Mathematics (ICMP) 2027 is an event of global significance. It is a prestigious conference in the field of Physics and Mathematics. With Da Nang's advantages, especially following the issuance of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, and Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW, dated August 22, 2025, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training, the conference takes on even greater strategic importance.

Therefore, to prepare for the conference, Duy Tan University established working groups, coordinating with the Institute for Advanced Studies in Mathematics to meticulously prepare the technical, logistical, and infrastructure aspects. “Currently, the entire infrastructure is ready to host a large-scale international conference. The university also has extensive experience in welcoming leading scientists from around the world in the fields of Mathematics and Computer Science,” shared Dr. Vo Thanh Hai.
Representatives from Duy Tan University also proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training and relevant parties promptly issue a comprehensive plan, establish a steering committee and an organizing committee to ensure synchronized and timely implementation.
In particular, communication is considered a key task to promote the conference and spread the image of Da Nang in particular, and Vietnam and its people in general, in the era of digital integration.
Dr. Vo Thanh Hai believes that communication efforts should be implemented early and divided into three phases: before, during, and after the conference. This includes not only communicating the event's content but also promoting the image of Vietnam as a dynamic and innovative nation, and Da Nang as a modern and creative city, to the global scientific community. This is a key factor in attracting leading scientists from around the world to attend the conference.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Le Minh Ha, Executive Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Mathematics, the conference, which will last six days, will include several networking activities for young scientists, university students, and high school students. The participation of leading scientists from around the world in Da Nang will be a rare opportunity to organize exchange sessions and inspire academic learning among students, contributing to spreading a love of mathematics and physics among the younger generation.
Sharing the same view, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Rector of the University of Education (Da Nang University), said that the school has a team of highly qualified lecturers in the fields of Mathematics and Physics, ready to participate in organizing academic activities and connecting with the scientific community.
"We need to take advantage of the conference opportunity to connect international scientists with high school students through exchanges and inspirational seminars on Mathematics and Physics, helping students cultivate a passion for science and orient themselves towards pursuing cutting-edge technology fields in the future," Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu expressed.
