Prestigious scientific event
The International Conference on Physics and Mathematics (ICMP) is a prestigious scientific event in the field of Physics and Mathematics, held every 3 years. The 2027 Conference is expected to take place for 6 days from August 2 to 7, 2027 in Da Nang city, with the participation of about 600 - 800 scientists from all over the world , including many names that have won prestigious awards such as Fields, Abel, Nobel Prize in Physics, Dirac...
Notably, this is the second time the conference has been held in Asia, the first time being held in Japan in 1978. This is also the largest international scientific event ever held in Vietnam in the field of Mathematics - Physics.
With the large scale of the 2027 International Conference on Physics and Mathematics, it is expected to attract many famous scientists, leaders of the most prestigious scientific associations and organizations in the world to attend. This will have a positive impact, contributing to promoting the image of Da Nang as an attractive destination on the world tourism and science map, attracting the interest and attention of the global scientific community.
According to experts, Da Nang has a lot of experience in organizing international events such as the 25th International Mathematics Olympiad (VIMC 2025) taking place in August 2025. Previously, in 2023, the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications (now the Department of Science and Technology) and the University of Education (Danang University) successfully organized the 10th National Mathematics Conference in Da Nang, with the participation of nearly 1,000 scientists. This success is an important foundation for Da Nang to host ICMP 2027.
Connecting and inspiring science
Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, Vice President of Duy Tan University, said that the International Conference on Physics and Mathematics (ICMP) 2027 is an event of global stature. This is a prestigious conference in the field of Physics and Mathematics. With the advantages of Da Nang, especially when Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation and Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW, dated August 22, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development are issued, the conference has even more strategic significance.

Therefore, in preparation for the conference, Duy Tan University has established working groups, coordinating with the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics to carefully prepare the technical, logistical, and physical facilities. "Currently, the entire infrastructure is ready to organize large-scale international conferences. The school also has a lot of experience in welcoming the world's leading scientists in the fields of Mathematics and Informatics," Dr. Vo Thanh Hai shared.
Duy Tan University representative also proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training and relevant parties soon issue a master plan, establish a steering committee and organizing committee to implement it synchronously and on schedule.
In particular, communication work is considered a key task to promote the conference and spread the image of Da Nang in particular, the country and people of Vietnam in general in the digital integration period.
Dr. Vo Thanh Hai said that communication work should be implemented early and divided into three stages before, during and after the conference. Not only communicating the content of the event, but also spreading the image of Vietnam, a dynamic, innovative country and Da Nang, a modern, creative city to the global scientific community. This is the key factor to attract the world's leading scientists to attend the conference.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Le Minh Ha, Executive Director of the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, in addition to the main activities of the conference, there will be a number of activities connecting young scientists, students and high school students during the 6 days of the conference. The participation of the world's leading scientists in Da Nang will be a rare opportunity to organize exchanges, inspire academics for students, and contribute to spreading the love of Mathematics and Physics among the young generation.
Sharing the same view, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Principal of the University of Education (University of Danang) shared that the school has a team of highly specialized lecturers in the fields of Mathematics and Physics, ready to participate in organizing academic activities and connecting with the scientific community.
“We need to take advantage of the conference to connect international scientists with high school students, through exchanges and inspirational topics in Mathematics and Physics, helping students nurture their passion for science and orient themselves to pursue cutting-edge technology industries in the future,” Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu expressed.
