After two consecutive days of declines, the market made an effort to recover right from the opening. At one point, the VN-Index surged 10 points in the morning session, with green dominating most sectors, notably the chemical and infrastructure services sectors with stocks like GVR, DCM, DGC, GAS, and POW.
In particular, POW attracted attention right from the start of the session with explosive trading volume of 23.2 million units and a 6.5% increase to 14,850 VND/share in the morning session.
At the close of the morning trading session on June 18th, the VN-Index rose 9.46 points, or 0.74%, to 1,284.23 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 289 gainers and 94 losers.

As the afternoon session began, selling pressure gradually emerged towards the end, causing the market to narrow its gains, and red (declining) stocks appeared more frequently compared to the morning session.
At the close of trading on June 18th, the VN-Index rose 4.73 points, or 0.37%, to 1,279.5 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 269 gainers, 151 losers, and 72 stocks that remained unchanged.
The HNX-Index rose 1.27 points to 244.43 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 106 gainers, 71 losers, and 68 stocks unchanged. The UPCoM-Index increased 0.11 points to 98.2 points.
DGC led the market rally, surging to its ceiling price of 130,000 VND/share, contributing 0.8 points to the market. The positive sentiment spread throughout the chemical sector, with GVR also ranking among the top 10 positive contributors, adding over 0.6 points. DPM, DCM, AAA, DDV, APH, CSV, and HCD all closed in the green.
Vietnam Airlines ' HVN stock continued its upward trend, rising 3.5% to VND 32,500 per share, contributing over 0.6 points to the market. Compared to the beginning of the year, the stock price has increased 2.7 times, from VND 12,250 per share. Its market capitalization stands at VND 71,968 billion. Meanwhile, its competitor, Vietjet Airlines' VJC, fell 0.19% to VND 104,600 per share.
The infrastructure services sector continued its upward trend, with POW hitting its ceiling price at 14,900 VND/share, contributing 0.55 points to the market, and GAS also rising 0.52% to 78,000 VND/share, contributing 0.3 points. Besides these two stocks, other stocks in the sector also saw positive gains, notably HNA which hit its ceiling price at 26,750 VND/share.

The total value of matched orders in today's session was VND 25,286 billion, down 2% compared to yesterday, of which the value of matched orders on the HoSE reached VND 22,511 billion. In the VN30 group, liquidity reached VND 10,006 billion.
Foreign investors continued their net selling streak for the ninth consecutive session, with a total value of 656 billion VND today, including 1,420 billion VND in disbursements and 2,076 billion VND in sales.
Stocks that experienced significant selling pressure includedFPT (301 billion VND), VPB (106 billion VND), DGC (83 billion VND), VNM (78 billion VND), MWG (77 billion VND), etc. Conversely, stocks that were mainly bought up included MCH (102 billion VND), DBC (48 billion VND), HSG (47 billion VND), CTR (37 billion VND), TPB (35 billion VND), etc.
