On the morning of August 21, the Vietnamese stock market continued to set a new peak when the VN-Index increased by more than 21 points, reaching 1,685 points, the highest level in history. The VN30 also broke through by more than 30 points, surpassing 1,850 points. On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased by 2 points, reaching 285.79.
The strong growth of the market in recent months has mainly come from the group of banking stocks. This morning, many codes continued to "make waves" whenOCB , VIB, STB, BVB hit the ceiling price; while KLB, NVB, VBB, PGB, LPB also climbed close to the ceiling price.
VN-Index has continuously reached new peaks in recent times, in which banking stocks have continuously made waves.
Bank stocks double in price
Among these, VPB ( VPBank ) is the center of attention. VPBank's shares have increased by nearly 100% in less than two months, from 19,000 VND to over 37,500 VND. Despite the hot increase, the family of the bank's leaders still registered to buy a large amount of shares.
According to the announcement from HoSE, the two daughters of Mr. Bui Hai Quan, Vice Chairman of VPBank's Board of Directors, Ms. Bui Cam Thi and Ms. Bui Hai Ngan, registered to buy a total of 40 million VPB shares. The transaction is expected to take place from August 25 to September 23 by order matching or negotiation. If successful, each person will hold 0.25% of VPBank's capital. At the current market price, Ms. Thi and Ms. Ngan must spend VND1,500 billion to buy all the above shares.
As of August 21, VPBank's capitalization reached more than VND289,000 billion, equivalent to USD10.9 billion, among the banks with the highest capitalization in Vietnam. The bank said the recent surge in its stock price came from positive first-half business results and expectations for the IPO plan of VPBankS Securities Company.
In addition to VPBank, Nam A Bank also recorded notable transactions from people related to senior leaders. Ms. Tran Kieu Thuong, sister of Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam, Standing Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, just bought more than 1 million NAB shares during the period from August 8 to 14, at an average price of VND15,700/share, total value of about VND15.7 billion.
After the transaction, Ms. Thuong increased her ownership in Nam A Bank to more than 1.046 million shares, equivalent to 0.061% of charter capital. NAB is currently trading around VND16,200, up nearly 20% in the past month.
