Bank stocks soar, VN-Index hits new peak near 1,700 points

On August 21, the stock market broke out, green spread across the market, especially in the banking group. Banking stocks became the main driving force of the market when they all hit the ceiling, helping VN-Index increase strongly and at times surpass the 1,690 point mark. At the end of the session, VN-Index increased by 23.64 points, to 1,688 points.

Market liquidity decreased significantly compared to yesterday's session, with total trading volume on the three exchanges reaching more than 1,972 million shares, equivalent to a total trading value of more than VND56,583 billion.

Foreign investors sold strongly on all 3 exchanges, more than 2,453 billion VND, focusing on codes VPB (584.8 billion VND), HPG (343.35 billion VND), CTG (240.74 billion VND), GEX (170.93 billion VND), KDH (144.94 billion VND)...

On the contrary, the stocks with the most net purchases in this session included SSI (252.42 billion VND), BID (92.19 billion VND), SHS (81.81 billion VND), VND (64.59 billion VND), VHM (60.95 billion VND)...

On the HoSE floor, the matched order value this session decreased compared to the previous session, reaching more than 48,792 billion VND.

In this session, the codes that contributed positively to the VN-Index increasing by more than 20.61 points included: VPB, BID, VCB, LPB,ACB , TCB, STB, CTG, FPT, VIB.

On the contrary, the stocks that negatively impacted the VN-Index by more than 2.86 points included: VIX, GVR, GEE, VGC, VPL, NVL, HVN, DGC, FRT, PDR.

In terms of industry groups, this session, software stocks leaned towards green, up 3.95%, mainly fromFPT , CMG, ELC, SBD... Some stocks decreased including ITD, HPT, CMT...

The stock group had a mixed performance, down 0.04%, mainly from codes VIX, VCI, MBS, BSI, DSE, VDS, AGR, BVS, PHS... On the contrary, the codes that increased included SSI, HCM, FTS, FUEVFVND, CTS, E1VFVN30...

The majority of banking stocks in this session were green, with an increase of 3.74%, mainly from codes VCB, VPB, BID, TCB, CTG, MBB, ACB, LPB, HDB, STB... A few codes decreased including EVF...

The real estate stocks group this session recorded a decrease of 0.13%, mainly from codes BCM, KDH, KBC, SSH, NVL, PDR... On the contrary, the codes that increased included VIC, VHM, VRE, KSF...

Energy stocks traded mainly in red and closed down 0.13%, mainly from codes PLX, PVS, OIL, PVD, PVT, MVB, PVP, PVC, VTO... Some codes increased including BSR , VIP, PPT...

The group of raw material stocks this session recorded a decrease of 0.74%, mainly from codes GVR, DGC, KSV, MSR, DCM, HSG, DPM, NTP, VCS... On the contrary, the codes that increased included ACG, HGM, PTB, PRT, BFC, LAS, MTA, LBM...

Insurance stocks in this session were mostly green, up 0.72%, mainly from codes BVH, PVI, BIC, VNR, ABI, BHI, BLI... Some codes decreased including PTI, PGI, AIC...

Retail stocks this session leaned towards green, up 0.06%, mainly from codes MWG, PNJ, CTF, TLP... On the contrary, the codes that decreased included FRT, HUT, DGW, HHS, PET, HTM...

* The Vietnamese stock market index closed in green today, VNXALL-Index closed up 51.78 points (+1.8%), to 2,923.52 points. Liquidity with a trading volume of more than 1,738.67 million units, equivalent to a trading value of more than VND 52,348.11 billion. In the whole market, there were 144 stocks increasing in price, 68 stocks remaining unchanged and 251 stocks decreasing in price.

* At the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index closed at 284.39 points, up 0.66 points (+0.23%). Liquidity reached a total of more than 150.98 million shares transferred, with a corresponding trading value of more than VND3,430.94 billion. In the whole market, there were 71 stocks increasing in price, 52 stocks remaining unchanged and 106 stocks decreasing in price.

The HNX30 index closed down 5.29 points (-0.84%) to 622.88 points. Trading volume reached over 96.23 million units, equivalent to over VND2,770.25 billion. In the whole market, there were 8 stocks increasing in price, 2 stocks remaining unchanged and 20 stocks decreasing in price.

On the UPCoM market, the UPCoM-Index closed at 110.58 points, up 0.9 points (+0.82%). Market liquidity, total trading volume reached more than 104.56 million shares, corresponding trading value reached more than 1,601.98 billion VND. In the whole market, there were 133 stocks increasing in price, 94 stocks remaining unchanged and 140 stocks decreasing in price.

* At the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index closed up 23.64 points (+1.42%), to 1,688 points. Liquidity reached over 1,716.56 million units, equivalent to a trading value of over VND51,550.89 billion. The entire floor had 118 stocks increasing, 46 stocks remaining unchanged and 214 stocks decreasing.

The VN30 index increased by 46.45 points (+2.54%) and stopped at 1,874.91 points. Liquidity reached more than 787.52 million units, equivalent to a trading value of more than VND 28,327.11 billion. The VN30 group of stocks ended the trading day with 24 stocks increasing, 1 stock remaining unchanged and 5 stocks decreasing.

The 5 stocks with the highest trading volume are TPB (over 114.49 million units), SHB (over 85.26 million units), SSI (over 72.27 million units), MBB (over 57.15 million units), VPB (over 51.42 million units).

The 5 stocks with the highest price increase are SVC (+6.99%), OCB (+6.96%), TN1 (+6.96%), CLW (+6.95%), SSB (+6.94%).

The 5 stocks with the biggest price decrease were DSC (-6.98%), SZL (-6.97%), SAM (-6.95%), DTA (-6.85%), DSE (-6.66%).
