According to information from the Con Dao National Park Management Board, on the afternoon of May 14th, while performing environmental cleanup duties at An Hoi beach (Con Dao Special Zone), three female workers discovered two hawksbill turtles trapped in waste nets, drifting ashore.

These individuals all belong to a rare species of sea turtle, which is seriously threatened by exploitation activities, marine environmental pollution, especially plastic waste and floating fishing gear.

Immediately, the three female workers managed to free the two hawksbill turtles from the pile of discarded nets and release them back into their natural marine environment. Their timely action saved the lives of the two rare turtles, contributing significantly to the practical promotion of biodiversity conservation in Con Dao.

According to Mr. Nguyen Khac Pho, Director of the Con Dao National Park Management Board, the actions of the three female workers demonstrated the sense of responsibility and love for nature of the workers.

In the context of Con Dao's green and sustainable development, linked to nature conservation, the actions of these female workers become even more meaningful, contributing to building Con Dao into a land not only rich in tourism potential but also rich in responsibility towards the environment and ecosystem.

The Con Dao National Park Management Board stated that it will continue to promote awareness campaigns and closely coordinate with the local community in Con Dao to enhance monitoring capacity and strictly protect rare aquatic species. At the same time, it calls on residents and tourists to join hands in protecting the environment and promptly notify the forest rangers when they discover wild animals in distress.

The Con Dao Special Economic Zone has long been known as one of the areas with a diverse marine ecosystem, especially as a breeding ground for many rare sea turtle species. However, the problem of plastic waste and abandoned fishing nets in the sea still poses a significant threat to marine life.

According to local representatives, the Con Dao Special Economic Zone regularly promotes environmental protection activities, wildlife rescue, and public awareness campaigns on preserving the marine ecosystem. The commendable work of environmental workers not only contributes to protecting marine life but also conveys a meaningful message about everyone's responsibility in working together to maintain a green, clean, and sustainable environment.
