On May 12th, the An Giang Provincial Police, in coordination with the volunteer group led by Mr. Vo Thanh Tung - principal of Le Quy Don Primary School, Long Xuyen City, and the Hoa Hao Buddhist College, sent thousands of bottles of fresh water to people in the drought- and salinity-affected areas of Go Cong Tay district, Tien Giang province.
The delegation personally handed over 1,900 21-liter water bottles, 500 packs of bottled water, and more than 950 30-liter containers of drinking water to nearly 1,000 people in Binh Tan commune, Go Cong Tay district.
At the same time, they also donated 550 packs of bottled water to students at Huynh Xuan Viet Junior High School in Go Cong Tay district and 70 gift packages, each worth 500,000 VND, to disadvantaged households in the commune.

Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Quoc Trung, deputy head of the Party and Political Affairs Department of the An Giang Provincial Police, said the program was implemented in accordance with Directive No. 01 of the Ministry of Public Security . It aims to strengthen measures to prevent and combat heatwaves, droughts, water shortages, and saltwater intrusion, and to assist people facing prolonged heatwaves and deep saltwater intrusion inland in the Mekong Delta provinces.
Ms. Do Thi Kim Thu (residing in Binh Tan commune, Go Cong Tay district) stated that not only her family, but many other villagers are currently facing a shortage of fresh water and water for daily use.
"Today, I am very happy and grateful to receive water and gifts from the An Giang Provincial Police and the volunteer group. I sincerely thank everyone for their kindness in this program," she said.
