At the seminar, leaders of departments and agencies, along with representatives from 40 wards and communes in the city, assessed the results of disaster prevention and control work in the past period.

This activity is in response to the 2026 National Disaster Prevention and Control Week and the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Disaster Prevention and Control in Vietnam (May 22, 1946 - May 22, 2026).

At the seminar, leaders of departments and agencies, along with representatives from 40 wards and communes in Hue City, assessed the results of disaster prevention and control work in the past period, especially in 2025; and at the same time, proposed solutions for response in 2026, focusing on the remaining months of the year.

Many lessons learned, successful models, and effective approaches in responding to climate change and disaster prevention and control were also shared by localities at the seminar. This is considered an important basis to help units and localities be more proactive in implementing tasks and improving their capacity to respond to natural disasters.

According to the Hue City Meteorological and Hydrological Station, approximately 6-7 typhoons are likely to occur from August to October 2026; and about 2-3 typhoons from October to December. The predicted typhoons are expected to be strong with complex trajectories; of these, about 1-2 typhoons are likely to directly affect Hue City between September and November.

Heavy rains and floods in the last months of 2025 caused landslides along the riverbanks and streams in A Luoi 4 commune.

The 2026 rainy season is not expected to be as extreme as 2025. However, from September to December, there is still a possibility of 3-5 flood events, mainly concentrated in October and November...

In light of this situation, the Hue City Meteorological and Hydrological Station requests that units and localities closely monitor weather, hydrological developments, and heavy rainfall; proactively review disaster prevention and control plans; inspect dam safety before the rainy season; develop plans for evacuating people and property in high-risk areas; focus on preventing flash floods, landslides, urban flooding, and ensure that forecast information is transmitted promptly to support management and operational activities.
