American chip manufacturer Qualcomm has just announced the list of Vietnamese startups that have been selected for the incubation round of the Qualcomm Vietnam Innovation Challenge 2024 program. Launched in December 2019, this program is organized by the company to find and nurture technology startups in Vietnam.
The program, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology , aims to develop Vietnam's technology ecosystem and support small and medium-sized enterprises in designing products related to 5G, IoT, artificial intelligence, smart cities, and more.
Accordingly, a total of 10 Vietnamese startups have been selected for Qualcomm's incubation program. These startups include AirCity - a facial recognition device for access control; DeltaX - a line of affordable robots; GoTrust - a self-service kiosk for automated healthcare services; HSPTech - a wearable anti-static device for real-time monitoring; VOXCool - an IoT-integrated cooling battery; and MET EV with its smart electric vehicle product.
In addition, there are four startups with AI elements: Palexy - a company that uses AI to analyze data to optimize retail operations; Vbee - a conversational AI platform focused on the financial industry; Olli Technologies with smart home products; and Realtime Robotics - the world's first AI-based multi-camera gimbal.
According to Qualcomm, these startups were selected based on several criteria, including technical capabilities, innovative products, and patentable technologies. In addition, their alignment with Vietnam's national digital transformation and Fourth Industrial Revolution was also considered.
Startups participating in the incubation program will receive $10,000 in financial support to further develop their projects over the next six months. The program also includes technical support, business coaching, and intellectual property training.
Participating startups will also receive up to $5,000 in patent filing support. Qualcomm will hold the final round of the program in August 2024 to select three winning teams with a total cash prize of $225,000.
According to Mr. Thieu Phuong Nam, General Director of Qualcomm Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand, Vietnam is a key region for nurturing innovative talent. Start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises will play a crucial role in driving digital transformation and economic growth in Vietnam.
“We are delighted to support and nurture these promising companies as they develop groundbreaking solutions in the fields of smart cities, robotics, and IoT. We look forward to seeing the impact of these solutions in shaping the technology landscape and contributing to Vietnam’s success,” said Mr. Thieu Phuong Nam.
