Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company reached the milestone of 2 million TEU containers handled in its first year.

Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company has reached the milestone of 2 million TEU of container throughput in a single year for the first time.

The 2 millionth TEU handled at Hai Phong Port was unloaded from the XINDALIAN vessel (China).

On the morning of December 14th, Hai Phong Port International TIL Port Company Limited (HTIT), a subsidiary of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, welcomed its 2 millionth TEU container throughput in 2025.

The two millionth container was unloaded from the XINDALIAN vessel.

This is the first time in its more than 150-year history that Hai Phong Port has reached this milestone. It is also the first port enterprise in Northern Vietnam to achieve a throughput of over 2 million TEU containers.

Mr. Nguyen Tuong Anh, General Director of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

To achieve this impressive milestone, Hai Phong Port has invested in expanding its port capacity in a modern and sustainable direction over the years. Most notably, this includes the construction and commissioning of berths 3 and 4 at the Lach Huyen port area from the beginning of 2025.

This is a significant development that will help Hai Phong Port improve its capacity to receive large vessels, increase productivity, and expand its service scale, directly contributing to the entire system's container throughput surpassing 2 million TEU in 2025.

The 2 millionth TEU will pass through Hai Phong Port in 2025.

Hai Phong Port has upgraded its facilities, equipment, and technology systems at the following ports: Hoang Dieu - Chua Ve; Tan Vu; and Dinh Vu. It has also promoted digital transformation in management and operations, standardized operating procedures to shorten ship turnaround times, optimize logistics costs, and enhance competitiveness in the market. This has helped Hai Phong Port consolidate its role as a crucial import and export gateway for the Northern key economic region.

Director of Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority, Bui Nguyen Khoi, hopes that the milestone of 2 million TEU in 2025 will be the driving force for Hai Phong Port to strive for even higher records in the coming years.

According to Nguyen Tuong Anh, General Director of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, in addition to improving handling capacity and operational organization, Hai Phong Port focuses on management innovation, developing high-quality human resources, and enhancing corporate culture.

These solutions help the port attract more new service routes, maintain the stability of traditional customers, and expand its customer network.

Leaders of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company presented flowers and gifts of gratitude at the event celebrating the 2 millionth TEU handled in 2025.

In 2026 and the following years, Hai Phong Port will continue to invest in and develop more berths in the Lach Huyen and Nam Do Son areas; and expand the modern logistics system in the Xuan Cau - Lach Huyen free trade zone and the Bach Dang industrial park.

The port is enhancing the application of digital technology , automation, and green/smart port development solutions, contributing to the development of the supply chain and creating sustainable added value for the business community.
