Regarding producer prices, which are considered a predictor of consumer price volatility, the government dropped the word "moderate" from the description and stated that prices "have risen recently." Data from the Bank of Japan showed that wholesale prices in the country rose 4.9% year-on-year in April 2026, the fastest increase in about three years, due to soaring crude oil prices while the Strait of Hormuz remained closed.

Regarding personal consumption, which contributes more than 50% of GDP, the government maintains its view on the recovery trend. A government official said that tourism demand during the Golden Week holiday in the month remains stable, but the impact of rising food prices due to supply disruptions from the Middle East needs to be considered.

In other key areas, assessments also remained stable for business investment, housing construction, and public investment.
