Today, May 25th, according to the latest information from the Ministry of Health on infectious diseases, the situation nationwide remains basically under control. However, dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, and Covid-19 are beginning to show a localized increase in some areas.

Recognizing the increased risk of disease outbreaks in the coming period, due to the high demand for travel during the summer months, the Ministry of Health has issued an urgent dispatch requesting the People's Committees of provinces and cities to organize a peak campaign in June and July 2025 to implement measures to prevent and control the aforementioned diseases and other potential outbreaks during heavy rains and floods (conjunctivitis, diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid fever, etc.).

The Ministry of Health requests that provinces and cities review and assess the risk of disease outbreaks in areas affected by heavy rain, flooding, and landslides; be prepared and proactively implement disease prevention and control plans when situations arise; and strengthen and maintain mobile disease control teams on standby to support lower-level units.

At the same time, mobile epidemic control teams will be assigned to key, high-risk locations, ready to participate in implementing measures to handle situations when an outbreak occurs.

The Ministry of Health also noted the importance of ensuring sufficient human resources, medicines, chemicals, medical equipment, and facilities for the prevention and control of infectious diseases, especially in localities affected by heavy rains and flooding.

Provinces and cities are required to direct the updating of infectious disease surveillance data, surveillance of severe viral pneumonia, timely provision of information on infectious disease cases, unusual signs of epidemics, and early detection of increases in infectious diseases, especially dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, Covid-19 and gastrointestinal diseases, and conjunctivitis after periods of rainstorms and floods.

Healthcare facilities should be well-prepared to admit and treat patients, avoiding situations where patients do not receive timely consultation, emergency care, treatment, and referral. At the same time, they should have a plan for referral and support for lower-level facilities, preventing hospital overcrowding.

In Hanoi, several treatment facilities have admitted COVID-19 patients in recent weeks, including severe cases with underlying conditions. Specialized units continue to coordinate with the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to collect representative samples from outbreaks, especially from severe cases, for testing to identify variants and monitor the spread of the disease.
