The upcoming Meteor Lake CPU has a new name.

According to Tech Unwrapped , in preparation for this change, Intel has dropped the Pentium and Celeron names. These processors will now be called Intel N and Core 3-Nxxx, and will be energy-efficient solutions for minicomputers, laptops, and tablets.

Next, Intel's Core processor line will be split into two: Core and Core Ultra. Additionally, the "i" designation will no longer be used for processors; for example, Core i3 will become Core 3. This means that, since the introduction of Meteor Lake processors, Core i3, i5, i7, and i9 will no longer exist and will be replaced by Core 3, 5, and 7 for standard laptop or desktop systems. Meanwhile, high-performance laptops or desktops with overclocking capabilities will use Core Ultra 5, Core Ultra 7, and Core Ultra 9 CPUs.

The report indicates that all these changes do not affect the processor's design and are purely commercial modifications. Clearly, the primary purpose of the changes is to compete with AMD's Ryzen CPUs.

The high-performance CPU line will be called Intel Core.

Several years ago, the company launched the Evo certification program, establishing a series of requirements that all laptops wishing to receive this label must meet, including Intel CPUs, high-performance SSDs, Thunderbolt connectivity, long battery life, and many other aspects. Now, the name has been changed to Intel Evo Edition, making it easier for users to find laptops that have been verified and certified by the company.

The company also introduced Intel vPro Enterprise and vPro Essential for enterprise computers. This line of processors is characterized by additional security features beyond those found in regular CPUs.
