According to Car News China , Xiaomi Group announced its Q1 2026 financial results today. Its smart electric vehicle and AI innovation segment generated revenue of 19.9 billion RMB (approximately $2.9 billion USD ) and recorded an operating loss of 3.1 billion RMB (approximately $457 million USD ).

Xiaomi also reported selling a total of 80,856 electric vehicles in the first quarter of the year, equivalent to a loss of $5,600 per vehicle sold. In the same period last year, Xiaomi only lost $900 per electric vehicle delivered to customers.

Xiaomi's sales of 80,856 vehicles in the first three months of this year represent a 6.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue from Xiaomi's smart electric vehicle segment alone reached 19 billion RMB (approximately $2.8 billion USD ), with an average selling price of approximately 235,000 RMB, or about $34,600 USD per vehicle.

Xiaomi noted that the electric vehicle manufacturer recorded sales growth despite production disruptions and reduced deliveries of the first-generation SU7. One of the models that contributed significantly to this sales boost was the Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV.

As of May 6th, the new generation Xiaomi SU7 has recorded over 80,000 guaranteed pre-orders, while the YU7 electric SUV has reached a cumulative sales milestone of 232,000 vehicles in 10 months since its official market launch.

Xiaomi announced that it has expanded its retail network, bringing the total number of sales outlets to 490 locations across 143 cities in China.

Despite revenue growth, Xiaomi's automotive segment still faces significant profitability challenges. The gross profit margin in the smart electric vehicle and innovation segment was recorded at 20.1%, down from 23.2% in the same period last year.

Xiaomi attributed the decline to vehicle purchase subsidies, low delivery rates for the SU7 Ultra series, and increased core component costs. This segment recorded an operating loss of 3.1 billion yuan, equivalent to $457 million , and the basis for calculating an average loss of $5,600 per vehicle sold in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, the April report showed that Xiaomi sold 36,702 electric vehicles, a 28.4% increase year-on-year and a 71.2% increase compared to the previous month.
