According to information from the Department of Internal Affairs, the results of the voter consultation on the merger of administrative units in Quang Tri province during the 2023-2025 period have been compiled.
Accordingly, in Gio Linh district, over 99% of surveyed voters agreed to merge Linh Hai commune and Gio Son commune to form a new commune named Gio Son. 52.2% of voters in Ha Thanh village, Gio Chau commune, agreed to merge this village into Gio Quang commune, with the new commune retaining the name Gio Quang, while 99.8% of voters in Gio Quang commune agreed to this plan.

The proposal to merge Ha Thuong and Ha Trung hamlets in Gio Chau commune into Gio Linh town, with the new administrative unit retaining the name Gio Linh town, received 90% of the voters' approval. 94.3% of voters in Gio Viet commune agreed to the proposal to merge the commune into Cua Viet town, retaining the name Cua Viet town. Voters in Gio Viet commune requested that the hamlet names be retained after the merger to name the neighborhoods. This percentage was 63.75% for voters in Cua Viet town.
In Trieu Phong district, the plan to merge Trieu Son and Trieu Lang communes to form Trieu Co commune received over 91% of voter approval. The percentage of voters agreeing to merge Trieu Van and Trieu An communes to form Trieu Van commune was 85%.
In Hai Lang district, 80.5% of voters agreed to merge Hai Que commune and Hai Ba commune to form Hai Binh commune.
After consulting with local voters, the People's Councils of the communes held meetings and voted. As a result, over 90% of the commune People's Council representatives agreed to the aforementioned merger plan. The People's Councils of the districts that were consulted also met and highly agreed with the merger plan, with over 96% of the votes.
Besides agreeing to the plan for merging administrative units of Quang Tri province in the 2023-2025 period, many voters requested that the competent authorities provide support for fees and charges related to administrative procedures such as changing information on land use right certificates, citizen identification cards, health insurance, and other related documents.
According to the Head of the Department of Internal Affairs, the process of soliciting voter opinions on the proposed merger of administrative units in Quang Tri province was carried out in a systematic and objective manner, taking into account all the aspirations of the people. The Provincial People's Committee will soon submit a summary report of the voter opinion survey results and the voting results of the People's Councils of the relevant administrative units to the Provincial People's Council for their consensus.
