The radiant smiles shared each day, the joyful eyes and laughter of children in the simple, rustic, yet happy old house. Or the hand-holding of the elderly, the peaceful resting of heads as hair turns gray – these are gifts for the stormy years they have weathered together… That is the meaning of the photo series "Big Family in the Ha Sung Ancient House" by author Tran Tien Dat, submitted to the "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest. The series is a collection of perspectives on the happy daily lives of each person and family in the Ha Sung ancient house, located in Ha Sung village, Lung Tao commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province.

What's remarkable is that in this old house, descendants of the Vu family still live together harmoniously, despite being separated by six or seven generations. Families, including grandparents and young families, are always happily gathered with their children and hold onto the belief in a better life. Each household here strives to preserve the values ​​of the house, working together to restore and protect what their ancestors left behind.

The ancient house of Ha Sung, located in Ha Sung village, Lung Tao commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province, is an old house belonging to the Vu family. It boasts a grand and imposing architecture, nestled deep within the mountains. It appeared at the same time as the Vuong family mansion in Sa Phin commune, and the two locations are very close to each other; it is even believed that this house was built some time before.

The house has a structure similar to most other traditional Hmong houses, the only difference being that the living space of this ancient house is very large, reaching several hundred square meters. Currently, four families with more than a dozen people, descendants of the Vu clan, still live in this time-worn space. In this beautiful, ancient house, the life of the descendants of the Vu clan will continue on the rocky plateau behind the Heaven's Gate.

The "Happy Vietnam" photo and video contest, organized by the Department of External Information, Ministry of Information and Communications, is held on the website https://happy.vietnam.vn and is open to all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and above. The contest aims to honor individuals and groups with positive informational products that make practical contributions to promoting a beautiful image of Vietnam to the world. Through this, it helps people at home, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends access authentic images of Vietnam, its people, and its achievements in ensuring human rights, moving towards a happy Vietnam.
