A reunion after 45 years, coinciding with April 30th, was made possible thanks to population data.

Starting with fragmented information about a father and uncle who were war martyrs, the Quỳnh Phú commune police force persistently cross-referenced population data, helping a family in Hai Phong rediscover their roots after more than four decades of separation, coinciding with the meaningful April 30th anniversary.

Amidst the nationwide celebrations of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification Day on April 30th, a deeply moving story unfolded in Quynh Phu commune ( Nghe An province), spreading the humanitarian values of Project 06 and the practical effectiveness of the National Population Database.

Previously, the Quỳnh Phú Commune Police received a request for assistance in locating relatives from Mr. Nguyễn Quỳnh Thắng (born in 1981, residing in Hải Phòng ). The information Mr. Thắng provided was extremely limited: he only remembered his father's name as Mr. Nguyễn Hải Châu, and knew that he had an uncle who was a war hero, but he did not know his name, hometown, or any other related information.

For many years, Thang's family persistently inquired and searched through various channels, but without success. The journey to trace his origins seemed to be at a dead end until he approached the local police force with one last glimmer of hope.

The police of Quynh Phu commune lit incense to pay tribute to the martyrs.

Recognizing that this was not just a professional task but also held profound significance in honoring those who contributed to the revolution, the Quỳnh Phú commune police quickly got involved. Starting with just the name Nguyễn Hải Châu, the police officers persistently investigated and cross-referenced information in the National Population Database, while also reviewing the records of the martyr's relatives and related family relationships.

After several verification steps, authorities identified Mr. Nguyen Hai Chau's older brother as Martyr Nguyen Viet Dieu. Clarifying the martyr's identity and related family members helped reconnect family information that had been lost for over 45 years.

The moment the information was confirmed was also a moment of overwhelming joy. After decades of longing, Nguyen Quynh Thang's family had rediscovered their roots, reconnecting with the family ties that had been severed by war — right on the meaningful occasion of April 30th.

Deeply moved by the dedicated support of the police force, Mr. Thang shared: “My family had almost given up hope because there was so little information. Unexpectedly, thanks to the Quỳnh Phú commune police, we were able to find our loved one, especially on such a special occasion.”

This story not only brings happiness to a family but also serves as vivid evidence of the practical effectiveness of Project 06 in serving the people; at the same time, it further affirms the image of grassroots police officers who are close to the people, dedicated to serving the people.
