US President Donald Trump concluded his three-day visit to China on May 15th. He was accompanied by 16 top American CEOs, including Tim Cook (Apple), Jensen Huang (Nvidia), and Elon Musk (Tesla).

The visit attracted attention due to its packed schedule and the business opportunities it presented between the top economic leaders of the two countries.

However, Elon Musk still seems to find time to post and share about a novel. On X, formerly Twitter, he wrote: “Read this book and give it to all your friends. The survival of civilization depends on it!”

The book in question is titled Suicidal Empathy: Dying To Be Kind by Gad Saad.

The book's introduction on Amazon reads: “What happens when society elevates victimhood to a virtue, and considers punishment cruel? This is what Gad Saad calls self-destructive empathy. The West may have contracted this disease in its final stages…”

The consequences of this process are evident everywhere: from condoning violent crime and protecting rapists to labeling self-defense as "harmful."

The book's central argument is a critique of Western society for its excessive focus on compassion and emotion. The consequences of this include leniency towards criminals, prioritizing the protection of vulnerable groups over "truth" and the law, and undermining social order.

User X's reaction

Many users on X criticized Musk's post. One wrote: "This billionaire preaches self-destructive empathy while his empire runs on cheap labor and state patronage. How ironic."

Another person said, "The survival of civilization depends on holding billionaires like Elon Musk accountable."

Musk's trip to China has drawn criticism from many, including horror legend Stephen King. King accused the billionaire of breaking the law after Musk left the country while still in court against OpenAI.

Musk himself filed a $150 billion lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging they violated his founding agreement by restructuring the company from a non-profit mission into a for-profit enterprise.
