Dam River plays an important role in the construction of the ecological urban area of Tam Ky City. It has a water surface area of about 200 hectares; the total lake basin, including surrounding villages, is about 650 hectares. Dam River has a diverse and rich freshwater ecosystem typical of the South Central region. Dam River is located about 1km from the East Sea, associated with Ky Anh tunnel - a national historical site.
According to the survey of the Vietnam Museum of Nature research team, Dam River has very rich and diverse flora and fauna. Vertebrates recorded 81 species belonging to 53 families and 20 orders; 33 different fish species belonging to 21 families, 11 orders and 1 species of eel; 16 species of reptiles, amphibians, 31 species of birds, notably the stork species listed in the Vietnam Red Book 2007. Invertebrates include 214 species and 211 other insect species. Higher plants have 170 species belonging to 74 different families...
The "dances" of birds in the evening make the Dam River ecosystem very joyful.
Coming to Dam River, everyone will be immersed in the fresh, cool air and freely watch flocks of white storks flying back to fill the sky after a day of foraging far away.
It is known that Tam Ky City has been investing in infrastructure and restoring and promoting the value of the Ky Anh National Monument associated with serving tourism at Bai Say - Dam River.
Localities plant trees and forests on hills and riverbanks with semi-submerged species such as Melaleuca and water coconut; at the same time, they plant green trees such as Barringtonia acutangula, Morinda officinalis, Euryale acutangula, Sua acutangula... along both banks of the Dam River.
In particular, in the near future, many activities of the National Biodiversity Restoration Year - Quang Nam 2024 will take place in the area of Bai Say - Dam River.
Nature has given Dam River an ideal space, the scenery here is worth visiting, worth loving!
