Vietnam News Agency's Patriotic Emulation Congress: Motivation to excellently complete all tasks

The 6th Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Patriotic Emulation Congress was attended by 265 delegates, representing nearly 1,900 officials and employees in the entire industry.

Over the past five years, the emulation movement with the slogan "Promoting the strength, dynamism and creativity of the entire industry, building VNA into a key multimedia news agency of the national media system, a reliable strategic information center of the Party and State" has been the consistent content.

In addition to competing to excellently perform political tasks, units also registered to implement programs and projects, and make achievements to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VNA's Traditional Day (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025).

Proud to be a reliable source of information

In the past 5 years (2020-2025), with the efforts of the staff, reporters and editors, the Domestic News Editorial Board has successfully completed the assigned political tasks, ensuring timely, continuous and oriented information on domestic current events in all fields, while also implementing well the key information routes and information topics.

In the field of political and social information, each year, the whole board publishes about 28,000-29,000 news and articles, achieving a fairly high customer access rate.

Information work vividly reflects all aspects of the country, all levels, sectors and localities actively deploy and bring the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress into life. Information focuses on the following areas: Internal affairs; Social life; Culture-Tourism; Law; Diplomacy ; Education-Training; Health; Science-Technology; Sports; Good people, good deeds; Traffic safety...

Journalist Tran Ngoc Tu, Head of the Domestic News Editorial Board, affirmed that over the past 5 years, with the spirit of emulation and efforts to improve the quality, efficiency and competitiveness of information, the staff, reporters and editors of the Domestic News Editorial Board have successfully completed the assigned political tasks; ensuring the provision of timely and oriented domestic political and social information, increasingly rich and diverse, and performing well the function of a source information unit.

The Party Committee of the Domestic Department and mass organizations: Trade Union, Youth Union, Journalists Association always promote the achievements; actively participate in emulation movements and activities contributing to the good implementation of the political tasks of the unit. Many movements and activities attract a large number of union members to actively participate.

Through the emulation movement, the Domestic Department has contributed to arousing the spirit of enthusiasm, positivity, and responsibility among the unit's staff, reporters, and editors, creating motivation to excellently complete assigned tasks, and creating an atmosphere of solidarity and excitement within the unit.

Responding to the patriotic emulation movements launched by the General Director of VNA, every year, the Domestic News Editorial Board organizes and deploys emulation movements throughout the unit with comprehensive content and practical and specific targets.

The organizing unit signed a competition commitment with the participation of government representatives, party organizations, trade unions and functional departments, thereby creating a competitive atmosphere, striving to implement the competition contents and targets right from the beginning of the year.

Implementing the emulation movement, the collective of cadres, reporters and editors has successfully completed many key information routes; actively contributed to implementing new information columns and topics of the industry.

The Domestic Department was awarded the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit for the period 2018-2022; Industry Emulation Flag (2021, 2023); General Director's Certificate of Merit (2020, 2024 - twice) and many certificates of merit from Central Ministries and branches.

From 2020 to now, the entire Board has 4 collectives and 5 individuals awarded the General Director's Certificate of Merit (including the Political-Diplomatic Department 3 times; the Multimedia Department 2 times); 2 industry emulation fighters; 36 grassroots emulation fighters. During the information sessions, the Domestic Board was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the General Director for its emulation achievements in information work on the State funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, many individuals and collectives were commended in the information line commemorating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, responding to storm No. 3...

The Domestic Department's Trade Union has achieved many achievements: In 2020, it received a Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union for the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at home work"; from 2021-2024, it received a Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee of the Vietnam News Agency Trade Union.

Members of the Association of Journalists of the Domestic and Northern Departments have won many awards: VNA Press Awards have 5 A prizes, 17 B prizes, 20 C prizes, 26 Encouragement prizes; 1 Second Prize of the Technology from the Heart Award. National Press Awards have 1 B prize, 2 C prizes and 1 Encouragement prize.

Reporters of the Domestic Department won A and B prizes at the Central-level Political Contest to Protect the Party's Ideological Foundation, the Encouragement Prize at the Bloc Party Committee's Political Contest to Protect the Party's Ideological Foundation, and the National Press Awards for Foreign Information, the Dien Hong Award, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, and the Press Award for the Cause of Great National Unity.

In the period of 2020-2025, 6 members were proposed by the Vietnam News Agency Journalists Association and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association to receive certificates of merit. The members also won many press awards at the ministerial, sectoral and local levels such as: National Press Award on poverty reduction; National Press Award on environment; National Press Award on education; Press Award on Party building and political system of Hanoi city; Press Award on cultural development, building elegant and civilized Hanoians...

The Youth Union of the Domestic Department was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Youth Union of Central Agencies in 2020 and 2022 and a Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of VNA in 2021 and 2023.

According to journalist Tran Ngoc Tu, in order to successfully complete the emulation work in the period of 2025-2030, the Domestic News Editorial Board continues to focus on directing information in the direction of "ordering" to ensure accurate and sensitive information, creating diverse and rich sources of information. Improve the ability to grasp the situation, analyze and evaluate information. Strictly implement information discipline, ensure the quality and effectiveness of reporter, editor and proofreader work; strengthen exchanges and coordination between specialized departments, domestic permanent agencies, and units in the industry...

To promote the spirit of initiative, creativity, solidarity, responsibility and efforts of the staff, reporters and editors, to ensure timely, accurate and oriented information on current political and social issues and events in the country, contributing to the successful completion of the common political tasks of the entire industry.

Spreading competitive spirit to each individual and unit

The success of the emulation movements in the past period is closely linked to the consistent leadership and direction of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the Center. The Party Committee of the Center has concretized the resolutions of the Party Committee of VNA, linking the emulation content with the key political tasks. In addition, the Board of Directors of the Center directly directed, coordinated resources, provided technical support, promptly rewarded, encouraged, and created a vibrant emulation atmosphere.

Thanks to that, the team of reporters and editors matured quickly, had strong political will, and increasingly improved professional skills, with many works winning journalism awards.

Over the past 5 years, groups and individuals of the Central Highlands Regional Information Center have won 2 third prizes of the National Press Awards; 1 second prize, 1 third prize and 5 consolation prizes of the National Press Awards on Foreign Information; 5 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 8 third prizes, 4 consolation prizes, 2 special prizes of the VNA Press Awards.

The General Director of VNA also presented Certificates of Merit to many individuals and groups for their outstanding achievements in information work on epidemics, natural disasters, elections, and anti-corruption. According to journalist Hoang Van Ngoan, Head of the Special Topics and Management of Resident Agencies, VNA Information Center in the Southern Region: He is very excited to attend the patriotic emulation congress of the industry this time. His joy is "doubled, tripled" because it has been a long time since he was able to return to the capital, right on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of VNA's tradition.

“On the occasion of my working trip to Hanoi, I and my fellow reporters from the South will visit the VNA exhibition area at the National Achievements Exhibition (Dong Anh, Hanoi) to learn more about the role and achievements of the industry in the process of building and developing the country. This is also an opportunity for resident reporters to exchange, learn and share experiences in work with reporters and editors in the industry,” added journalist Hoang Van Ngoan.

As one of 39 individuals honored to receive the Certificate of Merit from the General Director of VNA at this Congress, journalist Le Vu Hoi, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Economic News Board, shared his pride in contributing and growing up under the common roof of the News Agency.

Journalist Le Vu Hoi recalled that when he was the Head of the VNA Resident Office in Tel Aviv (Israel), promoting the exemplary role of a party member, the experience and courage of a VNA reporter, he and the reporters of the Tel Aviv Resident Office overcame all difficulties, successfully carrying out assigned professional tasks. He ensured that all reporters, relatives, assets and working equipment of the resident office were kept safe during the war. All three reporters completed all professional tasks and other aspects of work. The articles presented a variety of genres such as popular news, reference news, photo news, etc. The resident office continuously won industry journalism awards for articles demonstrating the diligence of reporters in the area and in-depth analysis and comments.

“Working in war zones requires reporters to not only have capacity but also courage, political courage, intellectual courage and professional courage. Only then can reporters overcome all difficulties, meet the requirements of recording hot and attractive news but absolutely not let unfortunate incidents of security and safety happen,” journalist Le Vu Hoi affirmed.

The 6th Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Patriotic Emulation Congress was held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of its Traditional Day (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025).

From the emulation movements launched by the General Director, the spirit of patriotic emulation has spread to the units and each officer and employee of VNA. Each block has a movement, each unit has a goal to strive for.

The emulation movements contribute to arousing the determination and spirit of continuous striving so that each news agency worker can contribute to the common task, building VNA firmly with the position of a trusted strategic information center of the Party and State./.
