General Le Van Dung has passed away.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - After a period of illness, General Le Van Dung, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, passed away at the age of 81.

According to information from the Central Council for Health Protection of Cadres, General Le Van Dung, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, passed away at 3:40 PM on January 9th at his home.

General Le Van Dung passed away at the age of 81. He died after a period of illness, despite the dedicated efforts of the Party, the State, a team of professors and doctors to save him, and the devoted care of his family.

General Le Van Dung, born in 1945, was formerly a Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and former Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army.

Details regarding the visitation, memorial service, and burial of General Le Van Dung will be announced later.
