Families in difficult circumstances in Tan Hoa ward received gifts at the "Compassionate Tet" program for the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026.
In the final days of the year, amidst the hustle and bustle of public and private affairs, volunteers from the Thanh Thuy Charity Group, Buddhist followers of Dong Quang Pagoda, youth union members of the Thanh Thuy Commune Police Branch, and youth union members of the Thanh Thuy Regional Health Center are still diligently wrapping banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes). Working quickly and efficiently, each person has a task: some wrap the cakes, others tie the strings, some arrange the cakes, and others prepare the pots, firewood, and firewood for cooking. Thousands of banh chung have been transported by charity vehicles to the people in the communes of Lai Chau province and those in difficult circumstances within the province. Mr. Bui Van Duy, Deputy Head of the volunteer group, shared: “We are happy and grateful to continue our journey of bringing love to those in difficult circumstances during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse. Recently, our group participated in the 'Zero-Cost Tet Market' organized in Trung Son commune, where we contributed a little love with sticky rice cakes, warm clothes, and Tet gifts for the local people. We gave love and received happy, warm smiles in return.”
In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), amidst the hustle and bustle of people preparing for the festivities, there's a "market" that offers a very different feeling. Here, people choose essential necessities without worrying about prices or bills. What they take home are practical gifts, relieved smiles, and a sense of security knowing they have a more fulfilling Tet. These are the "Zero-Cost Tet Markets" organized in many localities. In Dao Tru commune, despite the rainy and cold weather, many people still came to choose essential items. The faces of those struggling to make a living shone with joy as they "bought" the necessary products to prepare for the traditional Tet, making the atmosphere of the Zero-Cost Market even warmer. The cold rain did not interrupt the activities, nor did it diminish the solidarity and sharing at the Dao Tru Charitable Tet Market.
Comrade Le Thi Quynh Trang - President of the Red Cross Society of Phu Tho province, said: “In recent years, the “Compassionate Tet” movement has gone beyond the scope of a simple Tet support program to become a widespread social movement, mobilizing the participation of the entire political system, the business community, organizations, benevolent individuals and a large number of people, sharing the spirit of: Connecting communities, spreading love, so that the worries of vulnerable people are not forgotten in the common joy of society. For Phu Tho province, right at the launching ceremony, the organizing committee received enthusiastic support and contributions from agencies, units, businesses, organizations and individuals with a total registered value of nearly 9.5 billion VND.”
For many years, the Charitable Foundation has been one of the organizations that consistently partnered with the Red Cross Society in humanitarian and charitable activities. During the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, through the Red Cross Societies at all levels, over 4,000 gift packages from the Charitable Foundation reached those in difficult circumstances, contributing to timely support and helping people celebrate the traditional Tet holiday in a warmer and more fulfilling atmosphere. The partnership of the Charitable Foundation not only signifies resource support but also demonstrates a spirit of social responsibility and long-term concern for social welfare and humanitarian work in the province.
As Tet (Lunar New Year) approaches, and the spirit of spring spreads through every street, love is shared even more. With the spirit of "Mutual support and compassion - Leaving no one behind," the "Tet of Compassion" program for the Spring of 2026 in Tan Hoa ward brought the spring closer to those facing hardship. Accordingly, 374 Tet gift packages, each worth over 500,000 VND, were distributed to poor households, near-poor households, families with particularly difficult circumstances, and vulnerable groups. More than just gifts, these were heartfelt visits, timely care and encouragement, giving people more confidence and warmth in the early days of spring. The radiant smiles and emotional eyes upon receiving the gifts are clear evidence of the humanitarian value the program brings. Comrade Bui Thi Nham - Secretary of the Party Committee of Tan Hoa Ward, affirmed: "The 'Compassionate Tet' event is not just about caring for people during Tet, but also about connecting hearts and spreading the Vietnamese tradition of 'mutual support'. Then, in this new spring, every resident of Tan Hoa Ward will feel the warmth of human kindness, so that spring truly comes to every home."
A Spring of Sharing - a Tet of Love, a Continuing Journey of Compassion. The "Tet of Compassion" movement in the Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026 continues to affirm the core role of the Provincial Red Cross Society in connecting social resources, spreading the spirit of humanity, and contributing to building a united and compassionate community. Each gift given is not only material, but also represents care, encouragement, and renewed hope, enabling people to celebrate Tet more fully, warmly, and completely.
