The Lunar New Year is a time when the demand for gasoline and diesel fuel for transportation, production, and business activities of people and businesses increases sharply. To ensure an uninterrupted supply of gasoline and diesel fuel before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, gasoline and diesel fuel businesses in Phu Tho province have developed plans and prepared sufficient supplies to meet the needs of the people.
At this time, the number of customers buying gasoline and diesel at gas station No. 1 in Van Co ward, Viet Tri city, has started to increase.
Currently, the province has over 270 retail gasoline and diesel outlets; 4 gasoline and diesel storage facilities with a capacity of nearly 35,000 m³ ; 3 main distributors including: Phu Tho Petroleum Company, Hai Linh Company Limited, Phu Tho Petroleum and Gas Joint Stock Company and 5 gasoline and diesel distributors.
Over the past period, petroleum businesses in the province have strictly complied with the legal regulations on petroleum trading. Dealers, retail outlets, and franchisees have adhered to legal regulations on fire prevention and environmental protection during their business operations; registered their distribution systems and operating hours; and displayed and sold at the listed prices, ensuring the quality and quantity sold as regulated. As a result, petroleum trading in the province has remained stable, fully meeting the fuel needs for production, business activities, and transportation of the people.
Retail gasoline and diesel fuel stations throughout the province are ensuring sufficient supply to meet the needs of residents and businesses during the Tet holiday.
As a member of the Vietnam National Petroleum Group, directly trading in gasoline, diesel, and petrochemical products in the province, Phu Tho Petroleum Company currently supplies gasoline and diesel to 62 directly owned retail outlets and 68 franchised retailers with 88 outlets. Mr. Lai Xuan Cuong, Deputy Director of Phu Tho Petroleum Company, stated: "To ensure the supply of gasoline and diesel during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, the company has developed a plan and increased its gasoline and diesel reserves by 15% compared to the consumption levels of regular business months; at the same time, we are working with partners and business units to implement a plan to ensure the supply of gasoline and diesel before, during, and after Tet. According to the plan, from January 21st to February 3rd (i.e., the 22nd day of the 12th lunar month to the 6th day of Tet), the company expects to consume approximately 24,000 m³ /tons of various types of gasoline and diesel, equivalent to about 24 million liters."
Besides ensuring the supply of petroleum products, the company has directed its affiliated retail gas stations to allocate sufficient personnel and increase staff to maintain regular and continuous sales throughout all days, especially in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year).
A survey of several gas stations in Viet Tri city shows that retail gas stations are operating stably, selling at the listed prices and within the regulated hours. At gas station No. 1 in Van Co ward, Viet Tri city, the number of customers buying fuel has started to increase. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Cam, the manager of gas station No. 1, said: "In the days leading up to Tet, the number of customers needing to buy fuel will increase 2-3 times compared to normal days, especially on the last day before the new year. The station has developed a plan to assign overtime shifts, arranging staff to work at all gas pumps from 5:30 AM to 9:30 PM to avoid long waits for customers. On the first day of Tet, the station will be open from 12 PM to 9:30 PM."
Recognizing that petroleum products are essential commodities directly affecting all aspects of people's lives as well as the production and business activities of enterprises, from January 23rd, the selling prices of commonly consumed petroleum products on the market are regulated as follows: E5RON92 gasoline not exceeding 20,592 VND/liter, a decrease of 158 VND/liter; RON95-III gasoline not exceeding 21,142 VND/liter, a decrease of 78 VND/liter; 0.05S diesel not exceeding 20,194 VND/liter, an increase of 412 VND/liter; kerosene not exceeding 20,110 VND/liter, an increase of 404 VND/liter, compared to current prices.
Customers are using cashless payment methods when buying gasoline.
To ensure stable petroleum business operations in the province, comply with legal regulations, and guarantee supply for production, business, and consumption during the Lunar New Year of 2025, the Department of Industry and Trade has issued a document requesting petroleum traders in the province to proactively ensure supply, plan for the preparation of goods, and prevent disruptions to the petroleum supply in the business system. Under all circumstances, they must provide sufficient goods to retail outlets within their distribution system to maintain regular sales operations and ensure sufficient supply to meet market demands; they must also allocate sufficient personnel, organize on-call duty or overtime to maintain regular and continuous sales operations before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of 2025.
Furthermore, key petroleum businesses and distributors should focus on sharing supply and profits within the distribution system with dealers and retail gasoline stations in a reasonable manner to ensure uninterrupted petroleum supply to the market. They should strengthen quality control, pricing, and measurement within the distribution system; strictly enforce regulations on sales hours at retail gasoline stations; and ensure fire safety, occupational hygiene, and environmental protection in petroleum business operations as required by regulations.
In addition, the authorities proactively implemented the monitoring of petroleum business activities, ensuring that traders comply with current legal regulations; monitoring the quality of petroleum in their managed areas; monitoring the operating hours and retail prices of petroleum at retail gas stations in the area; preventing situations where gas stations stop selling without reason, causing shortages and disruptions in the local petroleum supply. At the same time, they created favorable conditions for petroleum businesses in the area in terms of transportation, circulation, and distribution of petroleum.
