Thien Lam, also known by her nickname Jolie Lam, has gradually become a familiar name on the podium at pickleball tournaments across Vietnam recently. Most recently, she won the mixed doubles championship at the 6.5 level at the VPO 2025 tournament.
After 5 months of getting acquainted with pickleball, Jolie Lam has won 3 championship titles, 2 runner-ups and 3 third prizes in amateur pickleball tournaments. Thanks to her background of playing professional tennis since childhood, Jolie Lam has made great progress with pickleball.
"When pickleball developed strongly in Vietnam, Jolie became involved in the trend as a resonance from her tennis days. After a short time, Jolie found this combination more suitable and interesting when learning more about professional pickleball," said Thien Lam.
It is worth mentioning that Thien Lam's achievements in tennis are also quite impressive. 3 years ago, Thien Lam started to reap success when she was only 14 years old. From third place in the girls' singles/girls' doubles at the national level, she won the runner-up in the girls' singles/girls' doubles U14 ATF Sarawak 2022.
In 2024, the young girl won 3 championships in women's doubles at the 2024 national talent tournament, the 2024 national youth tournament and the national youth team.
The Vietnamese pickleball movement is growing strongly, with talent and passion, Jolie Lam wants to assert herself not only in the domestic arena but also aim for a place on the regional pickleball rankings.
Currently, Jolie Lam's proficiency score (DUPR) on the website is 3.8. Thien Lam's idol is the number 1 female tennis player from the United States, Anna Leigh Waters. Although only 18 years old, Anna Waters has no opponents in three women's events at the PPA tournaments in the United States. That is also the image that Jolie Lam aims for in the future: a young and energetic female athlete.
The 17-year-old girl decided to invest heavily when planning to prepare to participate in the WPC Asia Grand Slam tournament in China (from June 18 to 22) and Malaysia (from July 16 to 20). That will be the environment for Jolie Lam to re-evaluate her level as well as her position in the Vietnamese pickleball community.
