According to the Daily Mail on September 22, the incident occurred on Sakhalin Island, Russia. The victim has been identified as Lyudmila Komarova, 63 years old.
Natalya Borisovna, who was with Komarova, recounted that she was the first to see the bear and shouted to chase it away. However, the mother bear then brutally attacked Komarova.
"Then there was only silence. I slowly walked towards Laguri village," Natalya recounted.

A search was then conducted. When rescue workers arrived at the scene, they only found the victim's belongings.
"The mother bear and her cub were very close, so they couldn't continue searching for the victim's body on the night of September 21. The search resumed on the morning of September 22," Tvokha news agency reported.
Reportedly, the victim's son was also part of the rescue team. Eventually, they recovered the body of the unfortunate woman.

This incident occurred just weeks after a Russian tourist fought for his life after being attacked by a wild bear and dragged out of his tent.
The victim, Natalya K., 43, was sleeping in her tent in Kamchatka when the animal suddenly burst in and attacked her. Her screams woke other campers and eventually frightened the brown bear away.
A paramedic treated the woman at the scene before transporting her to the hospital for immediate surgery.
